Description

♡1000 Islands waterfront is just ahead of this charming spot (cottage not waterfront but owners' is -lot ahead- so you'd have access). Fishing & outdoor activity. Boat tours can usually be arranged ($100). Access is by drive-on ferry. Grocery store, banks, shops, parks, splash pad & beach in Gan, Aquatarium/railway tunnel in Brockville, exciting downtown in Kingston. Chickens & bunnies next door! Experience! Ready for a campfire? :) The space ♡Looking to escape the hustle? Want to chill out with friends for a week?! Experience making tasty s'mores at the bonfire with your kids. Watch as they put their screens down, hunt for frogs & get back to life. Grab a bevy! Chill out after a fun day in the sun. Gaze at the countless stars from a Muskoka chair at your fire pit in the front yard. Your tranquil island cottage awaits you♡ Before booking, please read the entire description. It will help set expectations. Or at LEAST read the big bullet points ;) ... ●We have chickens, rabbits & a rooster next door. ● There is no Wi-Fi in the cottage. Well, it's not reliable. If that's a deal-breaker though, fret not, as there is Wi-Fi at the waterfront with a patio & table/chairs (my family lives here at the waterfront property just ahead). ● There is no TV. ● We live on-site with 2 guardian dogs (a maremma sheepdog & a maremma/border collie). They will more than likely make their way over for a quick visit during your stay. They're well-trained & very friendly. ● Bring water to drink (the water here is from a well; it's fine for showering & doing dishes). ● Located on an island; access is by drive-on ferry. Getting on costs $10 but leaving the island is free. There are only houses on the island so please plan your trip accordingly. Be sure to bring all your groceries with you! ● Each additional guest after 4 will be subject to a charge of $100/person/night. ●There is no AC but ceiling fans and window screens make it very comfortable. Well-appointed & stylish, this home-away from-home invites you in to relax. ☆FEATURING:☆ ▪︎2 bedrooms with 3 beds combined (double & 2 twin sized). All bedding & linens are provided for a linens fee of $75. This cost is automtically included in the cleaning fee. If you want to bring your own linen, we will reimburse the fee. Bringing a baby? A Pack'n'Play (playpen) may be available if needed, just ask! ▪︎A lovely second floor deck where you can retreat, listen to the birds, feel the breeze, catch up on some reading. ▪︎A stocked kitchen (pots/pans, dishes, cooking utensils, glassware, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, etc.) with gas oven/stove & full-sized refrigerator. ▪︎1 towel + washcloth/person, shampoo, conditioner & handcrafted body bar are provided. ▪︎Has a BBQ at the back door just off the kitchen & a fire pit in the front yard. ▪︎Free BBQ propane & firewood. ▪︎ Books & board games (remember those?) As a heads up: If you plan on doing some fishing here during your stay, you need to have a valid fishing license (can be purchased inexpensively online for weekly use) & your own equipment (rod, lures, worms, etc.). ■OUR PROPERTY■ ▪︎Off-grid experience! (Solar/wind energy) Brief power outages are part of the experience ;) , although we added to our house-battery supply in 2021 to ensure these outages happen less often. ▪︎10 minutes to Gananoque. ▪︎30 minutes to Kingston. ▪︎Boat launch & dock on-site. ▪︎Family-based. ■AREA ACTIVITIES■ ▪︎In 2002, the Ontario 1000 Islands were designated as a UNESCO biosphere heritage site. There are many provincial islands close by where you can explore/picnic! ▪︎Fish/swim on-site. ▪︎Check out local attractions in Gananoque, including: 1000 Islands Playhouse (theatre), 1000 Islands History Museum, Joel Stone Heritage Park with public playground, splash pad & sandy beach, Marble Rock Conservation Area, Gan Brewing Co., 1000 Islands Boat Museum, 2 or 5 hour cruises on the Gananoque Boat Line, numerous shops/galleries, helicopter tours, Brockville Aquatarium, Brockville railway tunnel, & so much more. Join us for lunch at one of our favourite waterfront restaurants! With 3 other rental cottage spaces on the surrounding properties, Hideout on Howe is set up to entertain many guests at the same time. The volleyball court is shared among guests. X● Absolutely no dogs or fireworks permitted. (Deal breakers without refund.) ●X ♡Relax. Play. Enjoy.♡ Guest access While you'll have full access to the entire cottage, the volleyball/badminton court & a dock, there is a mechanical room off the bathroom in the lower level...we ask that you avoid it please. Other things to note As our property is off-grid, we ask that our guests be mindful of their electrical consumption. Using fans & lights is okay when you're in a room, but please don't leave them on when you're out.
