This rustic, traditional Cape Dutch style shepherd house is nestled along our seasonal river which runs from May to December. Oak Cottage sleeps up to 4 people with a comfortable king-sized bed on the ground floor and 2 singles in the charming hayloft, accessible via a traditional external staircase or indoor hayloft ladder. The cottage comes fully equipped with linens, towels, crockery, cutlery, pots, and pans for a hassle-free stay. The well-appointed kitchenette features a bar fridge, 2-plate cooker, kettle, toaster, and microwave for all your self-catering needs. Warm yourself by the cozy indoor fireplace during cooler evenings or enjoy the outdoor braai area for authentic South African barbecues. Step outside to discover a large open lawn with a fire pit in front of the cottage, a peaceful patio with relaxing daybed, and a rejuvenating outdoor bath. A magnificent shade tree hosts a table and chairs for outdoor dining and can accommodate your own hammock for afternoon naps in the gentle breeze. Feel free to make yourself a cup of tea or coffee—on the house—and relax on the veranda under the grapevines with our fast, unlimited WiFi. If you need to get a bit of work done or hop on a Zoom call, there’s a desk inside, or simply take your laptop out to the lawn or garden and soak in the peaceful mountain views. While you're here, explore the natural beauty of the valley—take a hike to the waterfall, enjoy a swim in the nearby river, or head out on a scenic drive through the Cederberg. Springtime brings a breathtaking display of wildflowers, and year-round you’ll find peace, quiet, and wide open skies perfect for stargazing. We have 6 self-catering cottages and 3 campsites. Our cottages very in size, price and location - from extremely remote and off grid to closer to the farmhouse with easy access to amenities. We have hiking trails that take you past our mountain spring and into the mountains for breathtaking views. Our spring fed farm reservoir is also our swimming pool and is the perfect spot for a sun downer. We also have a natural dam where you can paddle ski, braai and picnic, there is also a deck area over the dam where you can sit and watch the world go by.
