This unique property 20 miles south of Rosarito sits on the Baja coast inside one of the area's premiere gated communities. Just 1 mile north of Villas Paraiso, the 4-story beach home provides 3 separate guest suites on the 1st floor just off an outdoor kitchen/patio with a large (huge!) blue-tile fountain. The Blue Casita includes satellite TV, a ceiling fan, AC, a phone, a radio, a private bath, and a kitchenette. To enjoy ocean views and a lounge, guests take the elevator to the 4th floor. The Blue Casita is situated just off the Fountain Patio / outdoor kitchen area on the ground floor. Because our property is located in rural Baja, you will sleep undisturbed by the usual urban noises. Security provided by the development 24 /7 is top-notch, and we enhance the professionals' efforts with a two-camera exterior surveillance system of our own. When not exploring Mexico's renowned wine country or eating a meal in one of the area's many fine restaurants, Blue Casita guests are welcome to wile away the day or night in the large Fountain Patio complete with an outdoor kitchen that features both a propane grill and a charcoal smoker as well as a double-burner stove top and a sink with hot and cold water. Those ambitious enough to prepare a meal for themselves can request a cooking cart complete with pots, pans, condiments and utensils. Other amenities include lounge chairs, a dining table, a fire pit, two umbrellas, flowering plants, and, best of all, a beautiful blue-tiled fountain nearly 10 feet tall and 10 feet wide . All of this at the back of the property where walls on all four sides provide maximum privacy. To enjoy the stunning ocean views, guests take the elevator to the 4th floor Whitewater Lounge . There they can relax indoors or out on comfortable furnishings while reveling in the 180-degree ocean / coastline views. The perfect place to watch a Baja sunset with a glass of wine, the Whitewater Lounge is also ideal for viewing the miles-long coast line lit up at night under the canopy of stars always visible in a rural setting such as ours. Bonus points: There is whale watching from the Whitewater Lounge from December to April when grey whale families migrate to and from their birthing areas in Baja California Sur. Of course, dolphins feed and frolic in these waters year round. For your comfort, all guests areas have been substantially remodeled or newly constructed since we purchased our home in 2017. Also, in every guest suite we provide a booklet that includes information about the area such as local area restaurants, directions to the port town of Ensenada, which wineries and restaurants we like best in the Guadalupe Valley, etc. Guests have access to two of the four floors in our home. On the first floor just off the hallway that leads to the Fountain Patio, there is a laundry room with a washer / dryer, a sink, and a bathroom. Elevator access to the 4th floor Whitewater Lounge is also located on this level. The Fountain Patio with its outdoor kitchen is described above, which guests may enjoy 24 / 7, though we would hope that late-night visitors respect that others may be sleeping. Up on the 4th floor, the indoor/outdoor lounging areas can be enjoyed anytime day or night. There you will find reading material, some snacks, and waters. Parking is available on the street, if not directly in front of the property then only 20 or so feet distant. Along its quiet streets Mision Viejo is a great walking community. When the tide is low, it is possible to trek the sandy beach the nearly two miles north to the little town of Primo Tapia. Frequently seen in the water off our beach, Surfers are also fond of this stretch of ocean. In all guests quaraters, a folder provided with information about the area, including a list of local-area restaurants as well as our favorites in the Guadalupe Valley, Mexico's renowned Wine Country only 45 minutes away. We also provide contact information for our favorite in-house masseuses as well as how to go horse-back riding on the beach and / or in the hills and where to find the nearest sandy beach. (Ours is only rocks.) A gated community that was developed now nearly 25 years ago, Mision Viejo has long been at the top of the list for both weekenders and ex-pats. Now in our second Mexican home, we have lived full time in Baja for ten years. We chose Mision Viejo for its friendly neighbors, its amenities (a club house and tennis courts) as well as its views and the convenience of living less than an hour south of the border. Small grocery shops like Eli's Fruteria, the ubiquitous OXXO (Mexico’s 7 / 11), a wonderful ice cream parlor, the Saturday outdoor market and a gas station are all located in Primo Tapia about two miles north of us. In Primo Tapia you will also find three pharmacies where Medical Fast Lane passes can be purchased for about $40 total (including medications). Then there's Puerto Nuevo, the home of some two dozen restaurants where the specialty is steamed or deep-fat fried lobster. Located between the entrance and the exit to Puerto Nuevo is the new full-service grocery store, Calimax. There guests can find a reasonably extensive selection of Guadalupe Valley wines and products we take for granted in the U.S. We provide our guests with an extensive list of local-area restaurants and a few of our favorites in the Valle de Guadlupe, Mexico's renowned wine country about 45 minutes away. Then there's this: Those of you looking for a place to stay while attending an event at Villas de Paraiso -- usually a wedding -- will be no more than one mile north of that venue. All in all, Mision Viejo is our idea of a great place to live (and visit). Other than taxis and small bus cooperatives, there is no public transport. For visitors, a car is essential. We adore children but out little boutique accommodations are not really child-friendly. Circumstances might cause us to consider infants or older teenagers on a case-by-case basis. As for pets, although we adore them as well, with our two sweet-tempered, friendly dogs who live in the owners' quarters on the 2nd and 3rd floors, a mix of other four-footers might not be the best idea. Again, however, we are willing to consider pets on a case-by-case basis should there be no other option for fido.
