Perfect place to enjoy a relaxing weekend in nature. We will be happy to introduce you to the traditions, culinary specialties, typical products of which Basilicata has plenty. The house is very comfortable and is situated into a garden, which will allow you to enjoy the countryside, there is a table with chairs, a beach umbrella, beach chairs and a hammock. Outside there is a wood-burning oven and a barbecue (for security reasons they can only be used in my presence). The interior is cool in summer, while in winter is heated by a pellet stove with visible flames. Your pets can stay in the garden. The accommodation consists of a large living room with kitchen, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. Two bedrooms have a double bed and one bedroom has two single beds. It is responsibility of the guests to report in advance the preferences to enable the set up of the rooms. We live in a separated part of this big house and we usually are present. It is our pleasure to welcome you, to guide you in the knowledge of our city and the surrounding territory, to introduce you to our culinary specialties and our typical products of which the Basilicata has plenty. The villa is located in the Ofra district, a protected area of the Natural and Archaeological Park of Matera, near to the city, which traditionally was an area for holidays and outdoor walking; nowadays that area is used by many Materani (people from Matera) to stroll around and admire the Murgia and Gravina. The bus stop is 5 minute away, in Piazza delle Costellazioni. By taking a short stroll you can see the rocky complex of San Nicola dell’Ofra or Bat Cave. To reach Sassi in via Casalnuovo it takes about 30 minutes on foot. If you love trekking I recommend a trip lasting a whole day: starting from the house go to the Bat Cave, then along the canyon to the Cristo la Selva church, ford the Gravina and reach the Villaggio Saraceno. We love nature, growing vegetables, raising poultry for the production of eggs and chickens kept outdoors. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and we can also accommodate your pets in the garden. When there are guests our dogs are kept in a separate area. For the largest groups of guests staying more days, on request, it is possible to organize dinners to taste some typical dishes prepared by us in the oven wood, with a terracotta pot called "Rizzola", or other dishes. Furthermore we will show you a selection of the best handicrafts and high quality premises. We also produce extra virgin olive oil with cultivation and milling techniques that give a great fragrance and body; we also produce wine for our consumption. We have 2 dogs , 2 cats , and we can also accommodate garden your pets . Our dogs when there are guests are kept in a special kennel. In some cases , you can taste some typical dishes prepared in a wood oven , with details in terra cotta pots called " Rizzola " , or special preparations : bread, pizza , jams , pickles, meats and cheeses all produced by us . Otherwise we will show you a selection of the best handicrafts and high quality premises .
