Laid back and welcoming, this homely property is also within easy distance of Gialova village which has several popular waterside tavernas, coffee shops and mini-markets selling fresh bread, pastries and locally grown produce. From the private parking area 17 steps lead up to the property entrance which opens into an interior of cooling, white-washed walls, beamed ceilings and comfortable furnishings. Open plan by design, the kitchen sits on one side of the good-sized living area from where French doors lead onto an appealing balcony/dining terrace. Also accessed from one of the twin bedrooms, this lovely viewpoint is a delightful spot for al fresco drinks and meals whilst taking in the beautiful vistas and inviting private pool below. Scenic, steeped in culture and home to a wealth of wonderful archaeological sites this really is one of the most fascinating parts of Greece. Nearby highlights include Pylos (8km), well-known for its beautifully preserved Venetian castle and taverna-lined harbour front, while The Palace of Nestor (11km), dating from 1300 BCE and mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey and Iliad, is considered to be the best preserved Mycenaean palace yet discovered. A little further afield, the remains of Ancient Messini (60km) are as extensive as those at Olympia which itself, along with the amazing UNESCO World Heritage site of Mystras, can be reached in under a two hour drive.
