Once the site of the historic Steam Packet Inn, which served passengers traveling by Steam Packet from Topsham to London, the building now blends heritage with modern convenience. Nautical-inspired décor and stunning estuary views bring that legacy to life. Each spacious apartment is self-contained and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay, including an induction hob, oven, dishwasher, and more. Whether you're here for a short break or a longer visit, you'll find the perfect base to unwind or explore. Situated on Topsham’s Quayside, you're just steps from independent shops, riverside walks, pubs, and the train station—putting the best of this lively Devon town right on your doorstep. Guest access -CHECK-IN- Your key will be available in a secure lockbox by the Route 2 Apartment entrance (to the right of the bike shop) Check-in is from 3:00pm. A member of our team will be happy to welcome you and show you to your apartment. If you need a hand with your bags, just let us know—we’re more than happy to help before 5:00pm. The hexagonal key will let you through the main blue door, then take the next blue door on your right (same key). Head on up the stairs and turn left at the top. Monmouth is the door next on your left. Please note, the building dates back to the 16th century, and while the stairwell is a little steeper than usual, it's perfectly manageable and full of character. -TRAVEL- If arriving by train, walk straight down Station Road towards town, turn left at the roundabout, and continue to the bottom of Fore Street. We’re just a 7-minute walk (0.4 miles) from the station. You'll find us at 1–2 Monmouth Hill, EX3 0JQ, on the corner of Holman Way and Monmouth Hill—directly opposite Topsham Quay and The Lighter Inn. Look for the white building with the big blue “2”. We’re on two bus routes between Exeter and Exmouth. The "T" and the "57" -PARKING- You’re welcome to park beside the café briefly to unload and check in. Unfortunately, we don’t have designated parking for the building—our apologies for the inconvenience. However, there are several options nearby: •Topsham Quay carpark, which is completely opposite Route 2 •Holman way on road parking, the road alongside the building •Holman way carpark, just a few minute walk up the road (this is the cheapest option for long stay) PARKING IS FREE OVERNIGHT in the car parks (6pm - 9am) and Holman way on street (5pm - 9am) Monday - Sunday. Other things to note The building dates back to the 1600s, so you may notice the occasional flake of paint or a small crack here and there—perfectly normal for a property of this age. She wears her history with pride! Renovations took place during the winter of 2025 and continue to be an ongoing labour of love. As with any ancient building, she has her quirks, so we simply ask that you treat her gently and enjoy her character and charm.
