Description

Situated on Norwich's historic Elm Hill, this luxurious townhouse offers the perfect blend of comfort, contemporary design and character. Its quirky interior reflects its 500 year old life as a weavers house, now updated for modern city living. It backs onto a park and river walks. Dogs are welcome! There are two double bedrooms and a sofa-bed is available upon request. We are sorry but the staircases and uneven floors make it unsuitable for young children or those with limited mobility. The space 32a Elm Hill is located directly on Elm Hill a medieval cobbled street in Norwich's Cathedral Quarter. The front door is found through the black wooden gates and stone archway. GROUND FLOOR LOBBY Inside the property a large lobby provides ample space to leave suitcases, boots and coats whilst you explore. The old windows, stone arches, and oak beams recall the property's past life as an old weavers house. Wide and uneven stairs lead up to double height landing on the first floor. Please use the handrails and switch on the lights! FIRST FLOOR LIVING AREA On the first floor a light filled open plan living area runs the full length of the house. It is arranged as a comfortable seating area around an electric stove (sorry no open fires allowed ) , a dining area and a modern open plan kitchen. Windows on three sides provide street views of Elm Hill and the river Wensum behind the house. A small double sofa bed is available upon request to provide more flexibility for your sleeping arrangements and/or sleeping for an additional fifth guest. Please let us know in advance if you wish us to make this up for you and please note that there is an additional £15 charge. Finally the linen curtains are not blackout lined so a sleeping mask may be a good idea for those who prefer total darkness. BEDROOM 1 & EN SUITE A dramatic flight of carpeted stairs lit by a sputnik chandelier lead up to the large attic bedroom. The stairs are steep and have a narrow tread. Please take care! This groovy room is a cool and playful space with retro ice cream lights, an egg chair, a sloping beamed ceiling and king sized bed. At one end of the attic is a luxurious en suite bathroom with stand alone bath tub. BEDROOM 2 A few steps from the sitting room is a luxurious double bedroom with built in wardrobe and tiled roof views. We hope the hotel standard mattress and the range of thick and thin pillows, will give you an excellent nights sleep. The beamed walls date from the house's early 17th century origins. This is a small bedroom compared to the attic bedroom, so we hope its cosiness is offset by the large family bathroom. FAMILY BATHROOM There is a large and luxurious family bathroom with standalone roll top bath and separate walk in shower. The character and age of the property has been matched with modern amenities. There is super fast wi-fi in all the rooms and a modern kitchen. The TV in the sitting room has Free-View which gives you access to the BBC i-player and ITVX. We are sorry there is no washing machine - but there is a local launderette nearby. This tranquil townhouse is a peaceful place to spend time and relax. However just outside the front door you can take your pick of the cobbled streets of the Cathedral Quarter, the indie shops, bars and restaurants of the Norwich Lanes or meandering walks along the River Wensum. Guest access Access is a straight forward self check in via a key box. The key code and instructions will be sent to you the day before your arrival. Guests have the right to access the property from Elm Hill through the private courtyard, by passing through the black gates and under the stone arch. They may also use the back garden gate which leads directly to Elm Hill gardens and the River Wensum. It also gives direct access to the Monastery Court open air pay and display car park. This large car park with generous sized parking spaces is a useful place to park whilst you unload and explore the house. Other things to note The steep stairs and uneven floors make this property unsuitable for children and those with limited mobility.
