L'Appartement de Seraphin is a completely independent 1 bedroom self-contained accommodation. Located within La Magnanerie de Seraphin, Kristine and Geoff, your hosts , are a couple of French and Australian artists based half of the year in Provence and traveling the world the rest of the time. Access to a shared pool. At home, they speak French and English and they will be happy to recommend the best spots for you to explore during your stay. Available: motorbike garage, secure parking. The house is an old stone "mas" that had been abandoned for 19 years until the renovation started in September 2016. As much as possible, the old features have been retained, including the magnificent "voutins”, a succession of vaulted ceilings throughout the house. The spaces have been completely opened up with large exposed steel beams and a new polished concrete floor has been poured, giving the old farmhouse a whole new lease of life. Seraphin's flat is adjacent to this owners' living space and has been designed in the same style. It has a completely separate entrance and is located in the southwest corner of the silkworm farmhouse, on the garden level. It is 45 m2 in size and furnished with vintage pieces but with a very contemporary feel. The large grey floor tiles and the very thick stone walls, partly exposed, keep it cool, even during the hot summer months. The fully equipped kitchen with its large workbench surface is ideal for preparing gourmet meals. The living/dining room is very bright, with a large French window opening onto the western terrace of the garden, while the glass front door leads to the southern side of the garden. In this very private part of the garden, you can also have lunch in the shade of the trees and enjoy an aperitif while watching the sunset before dinner. The bedroom is located in a vaulted room, two steps above the living room level. It has a double bed (160cm wide), bedside tables, and lamps. A wall of linen curtains conceals two large wardrobes to store your belongings and suitcases, out of sight during your stay. This room, very serene, invites you to take a nap, to rest, to read, to write, or simply to meditate! A large window opens onto the garden on the south side. The charming adjoining shower room has a large shower and a toilet. Motorbike garage and secure parking in the front yard. Shared swimming pool The village of Navacelles lies in the Gard region, a 1-hour drive from the world-renown cities of Avignon and Nimes and only 1/2 hour from the marvelous medieval town of Uzes. Other villages worth your visit are the recently selected prettiest village of Lussan (15minutes), and many other character-filled villages such as Barjac (where Anselm Keiffer has his studio), Vezenobres, Aigues Morte, and the ceramics village of Saint Quentin la Poterie. The Gard department is famous for its colorful food, wines, medieval castles, culture, history, villages and market towns, farm or stone houses full of character. It is also known for the famed Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct on the Gardon River, and for the wonderful wild marshes of the Camargue, not far from Nimes, as well as for the Cevennes National Park. Beware that our village of Navacelles is not St Maurice de Navacelles, another village located in the Cirque de Navacelles in the department of Herault, 1h and 40 minutes drive from La Magnanerie de Seraphin! The nearest train station is Ales ( 30 minutes drive). from there you can rent a car if you do not have one already as to really truly enjoy all that the area has to offer, you will need a car. However, there are also many walking tracks to explore the "garrigue" around the village at a slower pace.
