Other things to note North Captiva Island is a unique, car-free barrier island off Florida’s Gulf Coast, accessible only by ferry or private boat. There’s no bridge or vehicle access, which helps keep the island quiet, uncrowded, and truly peaceful. Ferry reservations are required and should be booked in advance. Because there are no cars or grocery stores on the island, a little advance planning is helpful. Most guests arrange groceries ahead of time or use a delivery service, and we’ll share our recommended ferry and grocery options after booking.
