Artemisia: A Net-Zero Energy Home- Walk to Town
Description
This light-filled home is the perfect escape. Artemisia is within walking distance of the cafes, restaurants, and shopping of Winthrop but feels miles away. After an active day of skiing, hiking, fly fishing, or just relaxing, you can kick back and take in the expansive views of Mount Gardner. Have dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants or stay in and take advantage of the well-stocked kitchen with induction range. It's a peaceful, laid-back gathering place. The space Artemisia is the first zero-energy, solar-powered vacation rental home in the region. Over the course of the year, it produces enough clean electricity from the sun to meet all of its energy needs. It features polished concrete floors, ultra-efficient heat pump heat, hot water, and clothes drying, and panoramic vistas of the Methow Valley and snowcapped Mount Gardner through triple-pane windows. Non-toxic and earth-friendly finishes, such as zero-VOC paint, Paperstone countertops, natural limestone tile, all-natural latex mattresses, and cork flooring ensure excellent indoor air quality. A state-of-the-art air-handling system brings a gentle flow of fresh air to every room of this super-insulated home. Please note that the second-floor bedroom is loft style, with a solid half-wall balcony that overlooks the living area below. The home is most comfortable for six or fewer adults, although groups of eight have stayed on occasion. The master bedroom has a bonus loft space with a full-size futon, where the seventh and eighth person would sleep. It has a balcony that overlooks the master bedroom below and can be accessed via a ladder in the master bedroom or via the main staircase. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house, with the exception of a small utility room, which is kept locked for safety reasons. There is ample parking under the carport and in other parking areas. The house is situated on a large lot, and there is open community space nearby. Other things to note TV: We installed a new HD projector and retractable 100" screen in the living room. It has an Amazon FireStick for streaming movies and shows. (Sign in with your own Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu account. No cable or tuner provided.) Although the projector is bright, this setup is intended primarily for nighttime viewing. EV Charging: There is a 220-volt 30-amp dryer-style outlet in the carport. Please bring your own charger for your electric vehicle.
