Cheerful 1 Bedroom Apartment near Cedar Key Museum State Park DISCOUNTS OFFERED for longer stays Coastal, "Old Florida", city of Cedar Key, is at the heart of natural wildlife preserves, on bird migrations, with active shoreline aquaculture (clamming & oyster farms and fishing). We live in a vibrant community of artists, authors, fisher-folk, young students and others. Our magnificent sunrise and sunsets are the subject of local art forms. Visit quaint shops, local restaurants, museums, take a boat tour, hike, fish at our piers and launch your boat or kayak from our Marina and other ramps around the islands. The apartment is entered from the garden on our half acre property off the beaten path. Enjoy your stay near the Museum in our bright and colorful one bedroom (one queen size bed) apartment, perfect for two people. The sofa bed in the living room can extend the stay for up to four adults. For your comfort, the apartment is fully air-conditioned and heated, has a lovely new kitchen, flat screen TV for movies ( we do not have cable or TV as reception as it is currently unreliable), we offer wireless internet, outdoor grill, and access to a washer and dryer. Apartment has separate entrance, with parking lane. There is an adjacent drive for small boats on trailers (under 11' height including trailer) to pull in and out of without backing up, dependent upon boat and trailer size. We have an AT&T data wire at 11'-4" above grade which limits access to park a boat on trailer. Boats with flying bridges or masts are too tall; in which case one should get a slip at Cedar Key Marina. Apartment bathroom has shower, toilet and sink; does not have a bath tub. We like to greet our guests when possible, but when guests check in late or we are out, we may miss that opportunity. Some guest like their privacy and some like to interact with us. So we leave that up to our guests. There is combination lock for key to gain entry, if we cannot be here to greet you when you arrive. There is an additional key inside. If your plans mean you will arrive late; please advise us. We will be certain you can get into the apartment without issue. Please advise of your ETA to better assist ease of access to the apartment. Stays at Sola Berg can occur during the work week, weekend, weeks or month(s). Cedar Key is a series of islands connected by bridges. Hence every where in Cedar Key is located only a few minutes walk to access or view water. We have a vital aquaculture business community growing and harvesting clams and oysters. Downtown has a marina. Flat bottom boats, kayaks and canoes are the norm here for heading out on the water from several locations as our water is part of the Suwanee Estuary. Our specific neighborhood is quieter than downtown area (which is close to music at various eating establishments, nightly noise and event parking. Two of our local police live on our block. Many folks utilize golf carts and bikes to get around, rather than cars so our speed limit is generally 20 MPH and 15 during school hours at our school grounds. It is a 10 minute bike ride to downtown from our house. We drive like all the children here belong to us. We also have an airstrip in town , and an airstrip out of town in Rosewood. This is a small, old South, quaint town, the experience is like stepping back in time in how town-folk all know each other, our family members and our even our pets. There is no public transportation, save occasionally during festival events (when there might be busses and public parking areas created). When U of Florida offers public access to the civil war era lighthouse, there are boat taxis to get guests there and back for a minor fee. There are places downtown to rent golf carts, bikes, kayaks, and to obtain fishing licenses pay for boat access for the marina at the local hardware store. There are several Cedar Key websites listing local events, news and general information. Simply search for Cedar Key, Florida. Off street parking for two cars Pull in and out access (no need to back up) for small (not tall) boats on trailers The minimum stay is two nights. Please let us know if you require bed linen for the sofa-bed.
