This peaceful rural location on a ranch will soothe your soul. You will be on a 500-acre ranch that adjoins another 500 acres that also has only one home, so you will be able to experience a vast view of rolling hills. Spring is delightful, with the splendid display of bluebonnets. Something to note is other wildflowers appear all summer long and the colors change from blue and red, to the yellows, and then purple. There is a pool with a landscaped area featuring roses. We provide towels for the pool in addition to your regular bath towels. You are welcome to use the charcoal grill. Since this is a ranch, we cannot guarantee that the pool will be perfectly free of leaves each day, as wind and the occasional storm can blow debris around. We do have a pool sweep that runs daily to pick up this sort of thing, but we do not have staff tending the garden or pool. Guest access An assortment of breakfast items will be in your room, so that you can enjoy breakfast at your leisure. There is a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and mini-fridge in the room. Guests staying a week or greater have access to a washer and dryer and will have private use of a full size fridge and range as well, which are in the laundry room, with keypad entry, located next to your suite. We have a Weber charcoal grill on the patio, by the pool, a small grill by this room, and a family reunion size charcoal grill under the trees, down in the valley~ a perfect spot for a picnic. You may also make use of the pool and grounds, but please talk with the owner prior to heading out into the pasture. You will need bug repellent in the pasture to ward off chiggers. In spring you will see many butterflies. In the summer months, fireflies can be seen in the adjacent woods. All year long, birds can be heard happily chirping, sunsets can be witnessed without buildings blocking the view, and you can see the stars twinkle at night. At sunset, you will most likely hear the coyotes howl. Other things to note This is the type of place to visit for a staycation to escape the hustle of city life and turn off your cell phone. Still, we do have the city amenities in Ennis, Tx, just 13-15 minutes away, such as Starbucks, WalMart, and places like Chili's. Our town boasts two playhouses, a racetrack, and an old-fashioned drive-in movie theatre. If you are coming for the bluebonnets in April, our road is along the trail, plus you will be able to take private photos in the flowers on our ranch. We also welcome visitors to the Polka festival. The ranch is owned by a native Texan, whose maternal and paternal family came to Ennis in the late 1890s. We are located about 45 minutes from downtown Dallas, where you can take in a play, shop, dine, or visit a museum.
