Mountaineer House was established in 2006 as a tribute to the great history of the West Virginia University (wvu) mascot - The Mountaineer. The house is the original homeplace of the first official Mountaineer, William "Buckwheat" Jackson, 1936. The home illustrates the 70 + year history of the Mountaineer tradition with an informative pictorial display of the past Mountaineers. The home is centrally located within the quaint town of Kingwood, WV, approximately a 30 minute drive from Morgantown.
