This is a town Norman Rockwell would have loved to paint! We're on a point among three rivers, all within a few minutes walk. Our 5 bedroom home up on a berm--with a bowered and brick-ovaled garden--is surrounded by trees but is next to a small shopping center. The "point" section of town, where we live, is like its own little village, with post office, etc. I love to host but will give people what space they want. My wife has passed away; family comes and goes. We're a pleasant 25 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg, 30 minutes from Busch Gardens in one direction, Kings Dominion in the other. West Point is in the vicinity of the "historic triangle" of Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown. West Point itself has authentic charm, bordered as it is by three rivers--the York, Mattaponi, and Pamunkey. You'll primarily occupy the downstairs apartment--as listed--, but you're also welcome to the side porch, which overlooks a terrace and the garden, and are free to walk the garden, with its oval "circle walk." I plan to interact socially with guests to the extent that they would like. They should feel free to create a sense of the accommodations being their own space, and reach out as and when they wish. Of course, I will check that everything's okay.! The "point" section of West Point goes from 14th Street to First Street at the mouth of the York River. This section is made discreet by three rivers and has genuine down-home charm. The "Blue Crab" restaurant is frequented by Richmonders. A brisk walk along the edges of the rivers ( 2 miles) is beautiful and refreshing. You'll need a car. It's only half an hour or so from the Richmond Airport. You can park in our 12th St. driveway or along Main St. You should know that there is a chip mill a mile and a half or so from the house, which sends a stinky smell in our direction every couple of weeks. Normally, you're not aware of it, unless driving over one of the two newish bridges that help frame the town.
