This house was built around 1945, and has undergone substantial renovations. There are numerous places that need some paint touch up, but from a functional standpoint the house works great. Plumbing/Electric/Heating is all new as of 2010 and working beautifully. Despite some imperfections, we strive to keep the place clean and fully functional. We have 2 other vacation rentals in a detached garage, and a tenant in an attached studio, who you may see coming or going from the kitchen windows. The space During winter, the walkways and driveway will not always be shoveled for you when it snows. We do keep snow shovels and ice scrapers for your use while you are staying with us. Summer visitors, please be aware that Flagstaff is one of the few places where the majority of homes do not have central cooling. There is a window a/c in the bedroom that we install during the summer, and floor and ceiling fans, but other than that during the heat of the day it can get warm inside. We recommend opening the windows to allow cooler air to circulate, especially at night to cool down the house. Please remember that Flagstaff is a dark sky city so that we can see the stars better, especially from our local observatory. We do have motion lights and porch lights but the entire city is much darker than typical big cities. For instance, street lights are infrequent and intentionally kept dim. The walkway to the front door is flat concrete. Guest access As our guest at the Cottage, you have access to a private house attached to an occupied studio through a shared laundry room. Adjacent to the second bedroom, there is a cleaning room that accessed from the outside. You can lock the door from inside the bedroom, but there is very poor sound insulation and the adjacent room may have cleaners coming in and out between 10am and 5pm. One parking space is provided with your rental. If you need additional parking, we have other free options, just discuss it with us. No street parking in winter or you'll be towed or plowed in. The hot tub is shared with the two other small AirBnBs on this property. Please be respectful of other guests as you would at a hotel or resort hot tub. Other things to note The house has an attached studio with its own front door that is currently a long term rental. The only way into the studio from the house is through the laundry room. Both doors in the laundry room are lockable for privacy. Like many houses in Flagstaff this home does not have central air conditioning. There are typically 3-4 weeks every summer sometime between June and August when you would want A/C depending on monsoon storms, and we put a window A/C unit in the bedroom during the summer months but the rest of the house does not have A/C. Temperatures always cool down in the evenings, but if you are looking for a super cool indoor experience, please take this into consideration.
