Stonecrest Cottage - Country Farmhouse Style

Experience Ozark country life just minutes from a city. Explore our 1/4-mile wooded trail. Look for deer, wild turkey, and a variety of songbirds. Sit around the fire pit admiring a canopy of stars. Take advantage of the picnic and play area adjacent to the cottage. Fall asleep listening to the echo of a distant train whistle. Stonecrest Cottage was built in 2020 on 5 picturesque acres with AirBNB guests in mind. Come and experience this serene setting surrounded by Missouri Conservation Land. The space We have been in the antiques business for 30 years and love the history and patina of old things. That is what drew us to our old stone house. We tried to infuse this sense of age into our new guesthouse -- using old materials and antiques whenever possible. We wanted it to have all the modern comforts, but with a sense of a simpler time. We hope that you take the time to soak up some of the peaceful outdoor surroundings while you are here. Including a quarter mile walking trail on the property. We are surrounded on three sides by Bois D'Arc Missouri Conservation Area. This enables us to enjoy lots of wildlife and great bird watching. Guest access There is a large, grassy yard in front of the cottage -- great for hiding Easter eggs or catching fireflies. The east side of the cottage is a gravel parking area. The west side is the firepit (formed from the foundation of an old corncrib!). The rear of the cottage (which is what faces the road) has an old stone barn foundation. We built a play area and picnic area inside this foundation, which has loads of shade in the summer. The play and picnic areas have several inches of pea pebbles, but we still recommend shoes. Beside the play area is a small basketball court. All of these areas are for the guest's personal use, with plenty of privacy. Other things to note Caveat -- we do not have wifi at the cottage, and the phone service may be spotty (or non-existent) inside of the cottage. Usually, the phone service clears up if you step outside. We also do not have cable, but we do have several antennae channels and a DVD player. There is a shooting range about a mile from us. It is open from 11-4:30 five days a week -- and can be heard distinctly if you are outside. Children age 2 and over are considered guests. The first two guests are included in the price, additional guests are an additional $20 per person, per night.
