"Sweetwater"-- Bright, Airy, Modern
“Sweetwater,” named for the delightful view of an ocean inlet, is newly renovated in a Danish Modern style. It's ideally located in Southwest Harbor, a charming coastal town in Maine, on the “quiet side” of Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park. The house has everything you need, whether you're seeking a family getaway or a place to gather with friends. The three-bedroom, two and a half-bath cottage boasts clean, contemporary décor, furniture, and art, and kitchen well-stocked with all the amenities. The downstairs open floor plan lends itself to easy indoor/outdoor living and graceful gatherings: comfortable seating around a stone hearth, dining with views to the water, an elevated kitchen with two sinks, a breakfast bar, and access to the back patio, and a front patio with cushioned seating and water views. Upstairs, three charming bedrooms make for private, restful space: a master bedroom with queen bed, private bath, and a water view; a second bedroom with queen bed; a third bedroom with two twins; and a shared full bath off of the hallway. Each room has a modern, fabric headboard on the beds, upholstered chair, great lighting, and accessible shelving for clothes. Start your day with a walk across the Causeway and into town for popovers and morning music at the Common Good Kitchen or make your way down Fernald Point Road to Acadia National Park’s Flying Mountain for a short hike and scenic views of Somes Sound. Mid-day, find Eat-a-Pita in town for a sandwich or catch the ferry to Little Cranberry Island for lunch at Islesford Dock Restaurant. All of this and more is walking distance from this spectacular location. The free Island Explorer bus stops just a five-minute walk away if you prefer to avoid parking as you adventure on Mount Desert Island. Driving is also easy. Explore the beaches and lakes, bike the carriage paths, and hike the park trails. Find an early evening picnic spot along the natural sea wall, just a 10-minute drive away, for a spectacular sunset and memorable campfire moment. Between Acadia National Park and the local restaurants, libraries, and entertainment, it is not possible to run out of things to do and taste and see.
