Rustic charm close to Portland
Peaceful and private. My home is a country getaway with unique charm and has a feeling like no other. Just voted the safest town to live in Maine, located close to downtown Portland, the Portland Jet Port, Freeport, beautiful Maine beaches, apple orchards, a Gorgeous wedding venue a mile away called Caswell Farm and close to trails for hiking, my home has many options. It's a great spot for a family to stay and the rental is the entire home. This lovely home was built in 1979 with a non-traditional post and beam style, so instead of mortise and tenon joints it is bolted. It has true 12" x 12" and 9" x 9" beams harvested locally. It is south facing and well insulated so the household efficiency is wonderful. We use wood heat with a back-up monitor heater. It is cozy and has everything someone would need for an amazing trip to the great State of Maine. The entire house is available to guests. It is an open concept with many updates and unique features. The First floor has the laundry room, the kitchen, a full bathroom, the living room which has a wrap around couch and a large TV and the guest bedroom which has a queen size bed and its own entrance. The second floor has the master bedroom with a king size bed and full bathroom and an additional full size bed. Also a smaller TV and DVD player. The greenhouse is awesome but used for wood storage in the off season, the porch which has two entry doors, the new deck, front yard, back yard and fire pit. There is parking enough for 3 cars. We will not be staying on the property while guests are visiting but we will be available at any time for any need that may arise. Just call or text and we are only 5-10 minutes away. There is a yurt on the property and is available for rent as well. It can be booked separately or along with the house for added guests. The only shared space will be the driveway. The yurt is a year round glamping spot that we are very excited about nestled in my back woods. It is located about 175 feet from the house and you can barely notice it’s there. It is a nice rural neighborhood with nice neighbors and a peaceful setting. The sound of owls at night and crickets during the day is an often occurrence. The location is ideal for a visit to Portland which is about 15 minutes away or beautiful beaches anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes away. Also located near grocery stores and walking and hiking trails. A gorgeous wedding venue is located less than a mile away. Plus close to many more adventures in our great state. A car is the best way to get around this rural setting. We heat with wood but if you are not comfortable using a wood stove or have no experience we have a monitor heater that heats the whole house no problem and ask that you use that instead of the wood stove. There are two air conditioning units. One is located in the downstairs bedroom and only works for that room. We have floors fans throughout the house for the summer heat and another air conditioner located upstairs that works only for that bedroom area with the door closed. Also there is a yurt on the property that we rent out as well. There is a chance that the main house and yurt could be rented at the same time so we kindly ask guests to respect each other’s privacy. The only shared area is the driveway so both rentals are very private.
