Description

Welcome to Cedar & Bough! This secluded cove is nestled among mature trees and sits beside a tranquil stream that runs through the lush 34 acre property. The rustic log cabin overlooks the cove providing a terrific view and a replenishing stay any time of year! The space The log cabin is a short 3 minute walk from the parking area & portable washroom (no shower), just across a quaint foot bridge over the stream (you cannot take your motor vehicle across the bridge). It is private and equipped with limited solar power that will charge your cell phones and run the provided lights, a comfortable queen sized bed, a pull out sofa and dining table. Tucked in at the edge of the Cove, this 11’x19’ authentic log cabin also comes equipped with a portable BBQ and camp stove, a 5L water dispenser in the cabin, a wood burning stove and basic cooking supplies to make this off-grid cabin experience, your most enjoyable one yet. In the warm months there is a freezer and a small mini fridge at the washroom and parking area. The washroom is heated in the cold months. It is 150m or a 3-5 minute walk from the Cabin. There is no shower facility on the property. Additional coolers with ice are available upon request for an additional cost! Ice from the freezer is $5 per bag :) A large clearing near the cabin is perfect for hosting your special occasion or for enjoying a game of badminton or bocce ball with family and friends. We can accommodate your additional guests who wish to camp in their own tents in the clearing for a small fee. Please inquire :) With activities for any season and guests of any age, you may choose to spend the day on the beach building sand castles, immerse yourself in nature with some mindful forest bathing, take a hike through the property's 'broken bough trail' before you stop for a picnic or simply have a fun-filled weekend with friends roasting smores around a bonfire. In the warmer months, soak up the sun as you relax and unwind on a beautiful soft sandy beach overlooking a freshwater swimming hole. We provide beach toys and stand up paddle boards so that you can truly enjoy your day at the beach. The beach and games area is semi private and may be shared with other guests as there is one other Bunkie on the property located in the forest. In the colder months, the cabin is equipped with a wood burning stove that creates a lovely ambiance while it keeps you cozy and warm (tutorial available upon request). You can enjoy a pond skate (weather and ice conditions permitting), a game of shinny with family and friends or a snowmobile ride on the marked trails nearby (no snowmobile provided). End your day with a cup of hot cocoa in the log cabin or roasting s’mores around a bonfire. Our Cabin guests have the option of receiving a continental breakfast, delivered to the cabin door each morning for a great start to the day :) Just message us and let us know that you’d like it and what time you’d like to receive it at! If you would like to order a charcuterie board for your stay please inquire! We need a minimum of 1 week notice to order. Guest access When you arrive please stay to the left at the fork in the driveway. Signs will direct you to the parking area. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS THE BRIDGE IN YOUR CAR! It is a walking bridge only! Located less than 90 minutes from Toronto and the Tri-CIties 2 minutes to Shelburne Town Centre 12 minutes to Orangeville 20 Minutes to Alliston 40 Minutes to Wasaga Beach Other things to note PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING: It is incredibly important that you prepare yourself for an off-grid winter stay by learning how to operate a wood stove and keep yourself warm. The wood stove is the main source of heat and the cabin will get very cold very quickly if it is not being utilized properly. There is a heated portable washroom with a foot pump sink on site that is cleaned regularly for a pleasant and comfortable stay. It is located near the parking area which is a 150m walk (3-5 minutes) from the cabin. There is no shower facility on site yet but there is a water dispenser along with an un-plumbed antique wash basin in the cabin for washing up. It will require you to heat the water for the basin on the woodstove or camp fuel stove using the provided stove-top kettle. You are welcome to bring your own portable camping shower. The property has a large variety of animals to see including deer, many species of birds and a variety of fish in the stream. Fishing is permitted in the designated area only. There is no wifi on the property. You may have service depending on your provider :) Bedding for the pullout bed is provided upon request. Due to the many water sources on the property, you will be asked to sign a waiver prior to your arrival on the property. We live in the country, a vehicle with winter tires is strongly advised.
