Description

Staying at the Château de Bonnemare means enjoying an exceptional setting in the heart of Impressionist Normandy and the Andelle Valley! Close to our guest rooms are Giverny, Lyons la Forêt and Rouen, but also many monuments and gardens to visit! During your stay, you can enjoy the calm of our park and gardens. The space Located in the entrance chatelet, this room that we have restored and refurbished in the purest tradition of the 16th century, will transport you to the time of the Renaissance, the period in which the Château de Bonnemare was built by Nicolas Leconte, Marquis de Draqueville. For families, another bedroom is available upstairs, with two extra beds. In the attic, it is a very warm room with old tiles and contemporary decoration. It has its own bathroom and a great view of the driveway and the castle. The King's room is accessible by an original stone spiral staircase. It is said that the Château de Bonnemare was a place of obligatory passage for all the lords and sovereigns going hunting in the lush woods of Lyons la Forêt. In all the castles, a room was ready for a possible passage of the King of France. Unfortunately, we have no written evidence, but when you look at the remains of the decorations, the large, finely carved fireplace and the traces of gilding on the beams of the King's room, how can you not imagine Charles IX, a passionate hunter, staying there! Henry IV, also known for his cavalcades of a completely different kind, had a mistress a few kilometers away! Large windows on both sides of the main room offer a large exposure of light and an exceptional view of both the castle and the poplar alley. This spacious 50 m2 room has a comfortable canopy bed installed in front of the fireplace as was the custom at that time. You can admire the magnificent tapestry and frescoes depicting grotesques in the 16th century style. A large bathtub sits in the middle of the bright bathroom with original tiles. Guest access During your stay you will have access to your room as well as all the outdoor areas of the estate. Guests can enjoy the gardens and the 22-hectare park. Breakfasts will take place in the old kitchen of the castle with the bonus of its fireplace barn that will warm you up if it's the season! During your stay We will be on site during your stay and are available if you have any questions or would like information and advice on sightseeing in the area. Other things to note Don't hesitate to ask us for a tour if you are interested in the history of the place!
