Other things to note While snowfall is possible from September to May, guests should be prepared for the possibility of extreme conditions when visiting the A-Frame from the beginning of December to the end of March. If you're considering booking during this timeframe, read on for details of what you need to be prepared for. TYPICAL WINTER WEATHER: When visiting in the winter, guests should be prepared for the possibility of snowfall and extremely cold temperatures. In addition, South Park (the valley the A-Frame overlooks) is known for *very* high winds during these months which can make it all but impossible to be outside for any length of time, even in the hot tub. While many days during this timeframe are still quite enjoyable weather-wise, do not book this A-Frame during these months unless you are up for the challenge of conquering the worst the Rocky Mountains can throw at you. DRIVING: The aforementioned high winds and extreme temperatures can make driving a challenge during these months. Guests are advised to use vehicles with AWD or 4WD, snow tires and/or chains, and should plan to bring emergency provisions such as blankets, energy snacks, water, flashlights, and a shovel in case they are stranded in their vehicle en route. PROVISIONS: We advise guests to bring all the food they are going to need with them since the nearest grocery store is 30 minutes away in good driving conditions. When visiting during these months, however, we urge guests to bring extra food and provisions in case roads shut down due to extreme weather and a trip to the grocery store to resupply becomes impossible. GETTING COMFORTABLE INSIDE: The A-Frame is heated with electric baseboard heaters, with individual thermostats in each room. The heaters in both bedrooms are more than sufficient to maintain a comfortable temperature, but the baseboard heaters in the Great Room can sometimes fail to keep up, especially when the weather outside is below 10 degrees and/or very windy. If this should happen, you may need to use the wood stove to maintain a comfortable temperature inside. Firewood and instructions for lighting/using the wood stove are provided. License #24-0242
