Just off Scenic Hwy 52, and only 1 1/2 hrs from Atlanta, Fernwood is a home of windows adjoining the Cohutta Wilderness with views from every room. Steeped in History and wildlife, enjoy the spectacular views from the deck, sit around the patio firepit, have a fun game of Corn Hole, or unwind on the covered porch as the sun goes down on the Mountain. The space This home was built with 2x6's which affords great insulation against sound and the "elements " . The windows are also double-pane and Low E which blocks alot of sound and weather. Guests will have the entire 2 Main Floors to themselves including the Kitchen and the Private Hot Tub Deck. Hosts will be on the property in a separate entrance walk-out basement apartment and can be reached for any help needed, problems or questions. Ft Mountain State Park is only 2 short miles away and boasts beautiful hiking trails, paddle boarding, canoeing and swimming in the Lake, plus an Ancient Rock Wall built by the first inhabitants sometime between 500 and 1500 C.E. A Complimentary Gate and Parking Pass to the Park is offered during your stay, to be returned when you leave. A continental breakfast is offered. The Cohutta Wilderness adjoins our property with endless trails for hiking, biking or exploring the National Wildlife Area. It is minutes to waterfalls, overlooks, the Pinhoti trail and the highest elevation lake in Georgia, Lake Conasauga. Besides being only 2 miles from the State Park, Fernwood is also about 13 miles from Carters Lake which boasts over 3,200 acres of surface water where Boats of all types can be rented by the Hour or Day. Fishing for Striper Bass is one of the favorite pastimes at Carter's Lake and the dam. Fernwood is also close to the Wine Vineyards and Apple Houses around Ellijay. Many of the wineries offer food and wine pairings and live Music. Then in October, the Apple Houses show off their wonderful Mountain Apples and the Apple Festival goes on at the Fairgrounds for two weekends in a row.
