Set on 17 acres of countryside, our cosy pods offer a rural retreat with comfortable beds, TV, mini fridge, tea and coffee facilities, plus access to shared amenities, kitchen, lounge, BBQ area and hot showers. Meet friendly farm animals, explore the maze, enjoy the playground and café, or simply relax and take in the views. Conveniently located on SH1 between Wellington and Taupō. The space Flat Hills Tourist Park is a unique rural accommodation destination located on 17 acres in the heart of the Rangitīkei. The property features comfortable pod accommodation, camping facilities, an onsite café, friendly farm animals, family attractions, and plenty of space to relax and unwind. Guests have access to: • Comfortable pod accommodation, with a TV, an umbrella for trekking to the loo, a fridge plus tea & coffee making facilities, towels, a heater and a fan. • Clean shared bathrooms with unlimited hot water • Campers' lounge with a 50 inch TV, DVD selection books and games • Well resourced communal kitchen facilities • BBQ area (including utensils) • Free Wi-Fi • Free onsite parking • Onsite café (Wednesday–Monday) • Farm animal encounters (with animal food in your pod too!) • Maze and playground • Giant bouncy castle • Beautiful country views and open spaces Our location makes an excellent base for exploring the Rangitīkei region, the Rangitīkei River, Whitecliff Boulders, Taihape, and the wider central North Island. Flat Hills is a family-friendly destination where guests can slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy authentic New Zealand country hospitality. Guest access Guests are welcome to enjoy the grounds of Flat Hills Tourist Park during their stay. Feel free to explore the gardens, relax around the property, visit the animals from outside their paddocks, enjoy the playgrounds, tackle the maze, and make the most of the open spaces and rural atmosphere. For the safety of both our guests and animals, please do not enter any animal paddocks unless accompanied by a Flat Hills staff member. We also ask that guests take care around the ponds and other bodies of water located around the property. Our onsite café is open Wednesday to Monday from 8:30am to 3:00pm, serving homemade food, fresh baking, and great coffee. Flat Hills is a working rural property, so you'll often see animals, wildlife, and staff going about their daily routines. We encourage guests to enjoy the experience while respecting the animals and their space. Other things to note We can provide toddler floor mattress or portacot, please ask on booking and allow 48 hours notice. We have many cute and friendly farm animals, please ask on booking if you would like to arrange a tour. Please note these pods are not self contained and require a short walk outside to the kitchen, lounge and bathroom facilities. Awastone offers several options suitable for both families and thrill-seekers. 🎬 Movies at the Majestic Theatre, Taihape Catch the latest movie at Taihape's local cinema, a great option for a relaxing evening or a rainy day. 🏊 Taihape Memorial Park Perfect for families, with a swimming pool, playground, skate park, pump track and plenty of open space for a picnic or play. 🥾 Mount Stewart Reserve Walk A short but rewarding walk leading to a lookout tower with panoramic views over Taihape and the surrounding countryside. 🌳 Paengaroa Scenic Reserve A peaceful native bush walk featuring a suspension bridge, picnic areas and beautiful birdlife. 🥾 River Walks Around Taihape Explore the walking tracks and river areas behind the Taihape rugby grounds, offering peaceful riverside scenery and a chance to stretch your legs. 🥾 Mangaweka Historic Bridge Walk Walk across the historic Mangaweka Bridge and enjoy stunning views over the Rangitīkei River gorge. 👢 Visit the Gumboot Capital of the World Taihape is famous for its giant gumboot sculpture and annual Gumboot Day celebrations.
