Valley View is located between Bryson City and Sylva in Western NC close to the Smoky Mts National Park. At 3200 feet you can see miles of layered mountain views. Valley View has many local options for dining, shopping, breweries, hiking, kayaking, tubing, boating, golfing, fishing, biking, motorcycling, and scenic waterfalls. Cabin features hot tub, pool table, large fire pit, outdoor dining and grill, games, and amazing views. Please read "Other things to Note" below BEFORE booking. Our cabin is located at 3200 feet almost to the very top of a mountain on a steep mountain road (READ OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE REGARDING ROAD). It is quiet, secluded and will be the perfect respite for you and your family. We have a game room loft with a pool table, a fire pit to circle around at night, rocking chairs to chill in and take in the view on the very large wrap around deck, an authentic Bier Garten picnic table for outdoor dining on the side deck and a hot tub on the lower level with a view to soak away and release your daily tensions. We also have DVDs for movie time as well as board games and puzzles for family bonding. Our cabin is a place where we go to "get away from it all" and share quality time connecting with friends and family. It is where we go to unplug, so there is no Wi-Fi, however, there is cell phone reception depending on your carrier. The entire cabin is yours to enjoy. Please just treat it like your home away from home. We are not local, but are always available for text or call and will help respond to emergencies and get our local team on top of any issues. We are located in a subdivision called Indian Trails. It is situated inside Cherokee lands. When driving up our road you will see a sign that says Private Property Indian Trails subdivision. Continue to proceed and follow the signs to Valley View. On site parking. Travel to and from cabin by car to local attractions. NOTICE: THE INFAMOUS DRIVE! Please be advised that this amazing view means you have to travel 2 miles up a mostly gravel mountain road to get there. The road is steep and narrow, and is not paved after the first 1/3 of the way. It is a private road so it is not state maintained. It is graded twice a year so at times it can be very bumpy and have ruts if it's been awhile since it's last grading. It is not meant for vehicles with trailers (as once you get up to the top, there is little room to turn a trailer around) nor should you come here on your motorcycle unless it is a dual sport meant for off-road. 4 WHEEL DRIVE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED as is ARRIVING IN DAY LIGHT on your check in/first time up. I can't stress this enough! The ride up can be a challenge and scary for drivers not experienced with mountain driving, but if you know the basics, like using a low gear and maintaining a slow steady speed, then you should not have a problem. Several people live up this road year round and traverse it regularly. There are certainly steeper roads than this one, however, on ours a front wheel drive only vehicle will find the climb very challenging, ESPECIALLY if there is inclement weather, your tires are balding or your car is heavily weighed down with vacation supplies. Over the many years we have rented our cabin we have now had a few guests who didn't heed our advice and therefore had trouble with the drive where it negatively affected their vacation. A few could not get up one of the steep sections with a couple actually getting stuck and a few others simply felt it was too challenging for them to be able to come and go as freely as they had envisioned and therefore had to make last minute alternate arrangements. This is mainly due to one section in particular. At the very top of the mountain about 200 yards to the driveway of Valley View there is a hairpin turn into a very steep gravel section (we've included a picture in the description). In a two wheel drive vehicle, this will be the most challenging and is where these aforementioned guests had their trouble. There is a driveway to a different cabin at this turn and the best thing to do is to do a three point turn, and back down that drive way just a bit so you can get some momentum to carry you up the steep gravel grade. Maintain your momentum through the climb until you reach the Valley View drive on the left about 200 yards. If you read our hundreds of reviews you'll see that many people have successfully traversed our road and enjoyed our cabin, so don't be too freaked out, we are only taking the time to be as explicit as we can about this because we want you to have a great time and believe having correct expectations is a key to that. We have always felt the drive is just part of a good rugged mountain adventure vacation. It is worth it, just read the reviews, but if you are not comfortable with the thought of steep, narrow, dirt roads then perhaps a cabin at lower elevation would be more suitable for your needs and expectations. If you envision a vacation where you can easily zip in and zip out of your rental on paved roads of a subdivision, then perhaps a different cabin would suit you. We do have another cabin on Airbnb (Bear Creek Cabin) that sits in the Valley below Valley View that sleeps four that meets this criteria if you are interested. PLEASE BE ADVISED - If you book Valley View and ignore our recommendations stated above you assume all the risk. No refunds will be offered for guests who choose not to stay because of their feelings or difficulties regarding the drive to get there, including getting stuck and needing a tow. GPS isn’t always reliable and can get you close but we’ve posted many Valley View signs and give very detailed directions to get you to our little private piece of heaven. Trust us the View and our quiet cozy cabin is worth it! Firewood for the fire pit is not provided and can be purchased at Lowe's in Sylva or several locations in Bryson City. Our cabin is on well water. It is filtered and is totally fine for consumption and all of your other needs. However, bring bottled water if you prefer. Firing of Firearms on our property is strictly prohibited. Although our cabin is private and secluded we have many neighbors nearby that live on our mountain with us and firing out from our property puts them at risk. Please be smart! If you want to fire your gun go to a shooting range in the area.
