Lough Eske Castle

Set within 43 acres of forest at the foot of the mountains, this stunning castle features huge rooms with 32-inch flat-screen TVs. The 5-star hotel offers a luxurious spa within its beautiful gardens. Cozy bathrobes and slippers are provided in each luxury room, along with a wood-paneled marble bathroom. Rooms include oak furniture and beautiful garden views. Cedars Restaurant has a terrace and features traditional dishes including seafood from the nearby port of Killybegs. The Gallery Bar serves light meals and snacks while the Father Browne Bar provides a more cozy setting for enjoying a drink or having a light bite to eat. The new whiskey cellar showcases Donegal’s unique whiskeys with bespoke tasting experiences. The Cara Organic Beauty and Spa has a steam room, sauna, massage suites and outdoor hot tubs. There is a fitness center and the swimming pool is located in a glass atrium, offering views over the grounds. Guests can fish on Lough Eske, less than 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel, while Donegal is less than a 10-minute drive. Donegal Golf Club is a 15-minute drive, while Donegal Adventure Center and Surf School is a 30-minute drive. All guests are welcome to enjoy complimentary history tours, taking place 11am daily, complimentary use of the guest bicycles, and access to the swimming pool and gym. The Garden Suites were created in 2007 during the restoration of the castle and still maintain the original castle walls. They are light-filled and airy, located close to the spa and accessed directly from the castle gardens. Stone-tiled floors are strewn with thick, soft rugs and the room is decorated with earthy colors and elegant pieces of oak furniture, including the king size bed centerpiece. The generous space includes a Spanish basket gas fire, built-in wardrobe and living area. Wi-Fi access is standard, as well as a 40-inch flat-screen TV, built-in Cedar wardrobes and refreshment station with Nespresso machine. Bathrooms feature marble tiling, twin sinks, bath and separate rain shower, ESPA toiletries, soft towels and luxurious robes and slippers. Some of the larger Garden Suites boast a grand oak table and chairs seating up to six guests. These are subject to availability and can only be confirmed at time of booking through reservations.
