My English basement is in the center of D.C., has great closet space, and is for 2 persons max. It's located a block from central bus lines, .9 miles from 2 Redline Metros, blocks from Catholic U., 2 miles from Union Station, and close to the nightlife of Bloomingdale, Brookland, Columbia Heights, and the Atlas District. Street parking is free with a pass I can provide (refundable deposit required), and there are tennis courts and historic attractions nearby. The bedroom has a queen bed, two full closets, night stand, dresser, table lamps and area rug. The living/dining/kitchen area has a a comfy sleeper sofa, a desk and chair, an island bar with 4 stools, a full kitchen with basic items for cooking, and a wall mounted flat screen TV (no cable) and entertainment system with free Pandora, Slacker and other music apps + free Netflix and Amazon Prime. There is a table and chairs in the private patio outside the front door. Self check-in by contacting me for the code to the lockbox with a key inside. The English Basement is all yours, except please keep out of the utility closet in the living/dining area. The front and rear entrances and windows are extra secure with iron gates. The staircase leads up to the main house where I live, and that door will be locked during your stay. I live in the home upstairs am happy to meet you and help in any way I can, including suggestions for restaurants and what to do in Washington during your stay. If not at home I am available by phone, text, or email. Stronghold is the name of my neighborhood, which is bordered by North Capitol, Michigan Avenue, and the Glenwood cemetery. It's quiet, but is a walk or a short car ride from other neighborhoods with lots of restaurants, shops and nightlife, including Brookland, Bloomingdale, Columbia Heights, Shaw, and the Atlas District. My place adjacent to the campuses of Catholic and Trinity Universities. Check out the Arts Walk in Brookland, only a 15 minute walk away. There are also 2 tennis courts only a couple blocks away. And Lincoln's Cottage is close by. My neighborhood, called Stronghold, is located virtually in the center of Washington. At the end of the street you can catch a bus that takes you down to Union Station (2 miles away), through downtown DC, and to the Kennedy Center near Georgetown. The Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland Metro stations (both on the Redline) are both a 15 minute walk. Two complimentary metro cards are provided for your visit. Use whatever balance may remain during your stay and please leave the card for the next guest. A free parking permit is available for guests upon request, which will enable you to park for free on the street without time limit. This requires a fully refundable $300 deposit via separate pay app or cash. Note that even with the permit you will be subject to other parking restrictions (like fire hydrants and 2-hours for weekly street cleaning during certain months), so be sure to check street signs when parking. 2 persons max can inhabit the apartment INCLUDING occasional overnight guests. I provide your initial supply of kitchen and bath items like paper towels, toilet paper, soap/shampoo, etc. But thereafter guests are responsible for supplying these items.
