Gleneda Cottage - a renovated, traditional Cotswold cottage full of charm with fireplace and garden

Vrbo

★ Renovated Cosy & Rustic Cotswold cottage with fire ★

Description

A beautifully renovated 300 year old cottage in Bourton-on-the-Hill, near Moreton-in-Marsh. Built in Cotswold honey stone, the cottage is full of historic charm - original beams, elm floorboards, an inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, South-facing garden, all complemented by fibre broadband, modern kitchen and all the comforts for your stay. Perfectly placed for exploring the Cotswolds. Enjoy walks from the door plus Bourton House, Sezincote House and Batsford Arboretum in the village. The space This quintessential Cotswold stone cottage combines timeless character with thoughtful modern comfort. Original oak beams, exposed honey-coloured stone walls, elm floorboards and a striking inglenook fireplace with wood-burning stove create an authentic and inviting retreat. Recently refurbished, the cottage preserves its historic charm while offering high-speed fibre broadband and a beautifully presented kitchen and dining space. The kitchen features a range cooker, quality appliances and underfloor-heated stone floor — ideal for cosy relaxed mornings and evenings in. You enter into a welcoming sitting room, tastefully styled and centred around the wood burner, creating a warm and relaxing space to unwind. From here, the cottage opens into a light-filled kitchen and dining area, the heart of the home. French doors lead directly onto a private south-facing terrace and garden, perfect for outdoor dining or enjoying the peaceful surroundings. A traditional winding staircase leads to the first floor, where you’ll find: • The main bedroom — a light and airy king room overlooking the garden, complete with ensuite shower room (UK king bed 150x200cm). • A charming double bedroom featuring exposed beams and original elm flooring (UK double bed 135x190cm). • A family bathroom with a roll-top bath. Please note there is no shower in this bathroom. A second winding staircase leads to the delightful attic bedroom, full of character with exposed whitewashed beams and low twin beds (two UK single beds 90x190cm). Ideal for children or additional guests. As a historic Cotswold cottage, some ceilings are lower than in modern properties and the staircases are traditional in style — narrower and gently winding — carefully restored to remain safe and sturdy while preserving the cottage’s original character. Located in Bourton-on-the-Hill near Moreton-in-Marsh, the cottage is ideally placed for exploring the Cotswolds’ renowned villages, market towns, historic houses and countryside walks. A car is recommended to fully explore the area, though a rural bus service operates and Moreton-in-Marsh train station provides mainline rail connections (taxi required). Guest access The cottage is accessed from the road down four stone steps to a small outdoor area and the front door. These steps are shared with our neighbour. There is no allocated parking on the premises but it is possible to park outside the cottage for loading and unloading the car. Parking is easily available on the little side road few metres above the cottage to the left. A bus stop sits a little up from the cottage on the opposite side of the road with buses running to and from Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton, Chipping Camden, Stratford-Upon-Avon and many other villages. We highly recommend checking timetables in advance to see if they suit your plans because all UK rural bus services are less frequent than city timetables. There is a train station in nearby Moreton-in-Marsh. We recommend booking a private taxi in advance for transfer to the cottage from the station as taxis will not be available at the station. Other things to note If you have any special requests please do let us know. We can provide a high chair and/or travel cot* on request. *We can provide a pack-down style travel cot and mattress. Like many UK hotels, we don't provide baby bedding for our travel cot because of the UK SIDS/safe sleep recommendations from organisations such as the NHS and the Lullaby Trust regarding sheets, pillows, blankets and buffers. This allows parents to make their own safe sleep choices for their little ones. Thank you!
