Amiens Cottage is an historic 3 bedroom, renovated Queenslander, tucked away in the heart of Stanthorpe so an easy stroll to town. Ideal retreat for a winter or summer escape. The cottage has the character and charm of yesteryear, but modern facilities, including a fully equipped kitchen, air con and a TV in all bedrooms. The back deck is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. A cosy wood fire with sandstone surounds will be a welcome return home after a day exploring the lovely region. The space Amiens Cottage is nestled in an elevated and quiet location of beautiful Stanthorpe, with its cool climate, beautiful parklands, and National Parks. The cottage is within a short leisurely stroll to the main street where you will find many cafes, restaurants, and historic buildings. The Art gallery and library are also nearby. The cottage is in close proximity to Mt.Marlay, with its walking tracks and bike trails as well as Soldiers Memorial which provides a wonderful sunset viewing area. The area boasts many wineries, some providing lunch, as well as a focus on fresh produce and local industries. Farmers market on Saturdays at the railway and Market in the mountain at the Showground showcase many of the regions local products. The large garden at the rear is fenced, and is next to the generous covered deck where you can relax and enjoy local produce and wine, a barbeque, as well as garden and mountain views. The kitchen is modern, functional and well equipped with an induction cooktop, oven, microwave and dishwasher. There are two queen and one double bedroom all of which are decorated in keeping with the Queenslander style and have duvets, fine linen and electric blankets to surround you to help you keep warm on winter evenings. Polished original hoop pine floors, VJ timber walls, beautiful fretwork above doors, high ceilings and a large polished timber enclosed front verandah are traditional features of this period. Antique and vintage furniture add to the experience for a relaxing and comfortable stay. At the centre of the house is the lounge where a sandstone surround wood fireplace is pride of place with firestarters, kindling, wood supplied as well as a portable fire screen A cosy place for reading or playing games chosen from the bookshelf in the winter months as well as during summer with air conditioning to keep you cool. There is a modern washing machine and dryer for longer stays . Complimentary Soaps, Hand and Body Wash, Shampoo and Conditioner are all from local natural soaperie, Washpool. Guest access Guests have use of the entire home and garden/yard areas. There is space in the yard for car parking. Taxis are available as well as wine tours . Other things to note Free parking inside large yard near back entrance. Also at front driveway.
