Come stay at The Catskill Skoolie, a memorable converted bus experience. Skoolies are becoming a new craze in the tiny home community. This skoolie started out as a school bus from North Carolina. After its conversion it traveled all over the United States and ended up here in the great northern Catskills of NY. She is now taking some time off from traveling so you can experience what life would be like living in a converted school bus. You just might fall in love with the skoolie life style. The space Come experience skoolie life in this awesome converted Bluebird school bus. The bus has been upgraded to give a wonderful and comfortable glamping experience. The kitchen boasts plenty of counter space to prepare food, many custom-built cabinets for amble storage, a mini refrigerator with seperate freezer, double stove top burner, microwave, toaster and coffee maker(coffee, coffee filters and sugar are supplied). There is a large dining table with comfy seating for 4. Winter rentals: There are two heating systems in the skoolie. An electric heater to keep the chill off and a wood stove to get it toasty warm. Two pairs of snowshoes are provided. The slack line and fire pit are both usable in the winter too. Summer rentals: Firepit, 15 foot trampoline for jumping during the day and laying and star gazing at night. 2 person hammock, outdoor seating, flower gardens. Summer rentals can find comfort knowing there is air conditioning for those hot days/nights. The skoolie can easily fit 4 people who each get a twin size bed arranged in bunk bed fashion with pillow top mattress pads and fresh linens. The bathroom has hot running water for showering, hand washing and dishwashing (there is no sink in the kitchen area). There is a composting outhouse as well as a Model T Ford toilet unit. Some parts of the skoolie just couldn't be changed, the bus was left with the original cockpit. You enter through the original folding school bus door and can take a seat at the drivers seat, now converted into a desk for writing, drawing or gazing out the huge front window. To keep this vacation a way of connecting with nature and each other and give it the camping/glamping experience, there is no television or Wifi. Instead the bus is stocked with games, books, cooking supplies, and musical instruments. Enjoy some tunes on the retro vinyl player with bluetooth capabilities and our large record collection. We strongly encourage everyone to take this time away to unplug and disconnect in our forest, country setting. This space is great for enjoying your morning coffee with the birds, eating lunch on the comfy outdoor furniture, unwinding with a relaxing meditation session, or star gazing with a glass of wine. Don’t let the fun be contained to just the skoolie, as the land has much to offer as well. Enjoy a camp fire nestled among the flower garden. There are 4 acres of woods to explore, a slack line for testing your strength and balance, an awning with outdoor furniture, and a 2 person hammock for afternoon snoozes. You will be sharing the properties 4 acres with a Yurt rental. It is quite far from the skoolie and will not intrude on your privacy! Larger groups can book both yurt and skoolie and have full rein of the property. Guest access The entire property is bordered by a rock wall and yours to explore during your stay. Please give the Yurt rental their space though. The skoolie has its own parking area and driveway, seperate from the yurt rental.
