Log Jam - a romantic log cabin @ Little Menherion

Tucked away on the other side of a stream, Log Jam sits proudly on stilts looking back majestically across the woodland clearing it's nestled in. From this beautiful vantage point, either sitting on the veranda or inside on the big comfy sofa you will feel the romance as the wilderness dances and sings to you. Unwind, slow down, and soak up the nature. Find the secret door to the bedroom and clamber onto an elevated king-sized bed with yet another awesome view, just waiting to frame the sunset The space Log Jam is a modular cabin, built around the woodland trees that surround it, to have as little impact as possible on its surroundings. There is… A shower room with a hot water shower and towel rail to keep the room and your big bath towels lovely and warm; a luxurious composting toilet - think sawdust instead of water to flush. A lounge/kitchen with a wall of books and games, two large picture windows, a handmade kitchen and breakfast bar, and a lovely comfy chesterfield sofa. A hidden bedroom with a kingsize cabin bed and big picture window Outside there is a huge wrap-around verandah that runs the length of the entire cabin and around the shower room. Here you will find a handmade swing seat for two, a dining table and chairs. Also off the deck hanging points for a double hammock. A luxury under bed space for your dog with a large soft bed. 6 acres of woodland available for walking/exercising your furry companion(s) Guest access Log Jam sits in its own 1/2 acre private woodland separated from the rest of the property by a stream. As well as the vast verandah, you will find hammock points just off the deck for a double hammock. There’s a private fire pit to the side of the cabin situated perfectly to watch the sun go down as you cook up a tasty meal. There’s a grassy glade in front of the cabin if you’d prefer to get the picnic blanket out and get down closer to nature. You can wander around Little M taking in the wildlife pond and watch the damsel/dragonflies or go on a nature walk through the 6+ acres re-wilding area or arrange a tour of the organic no-dig veg garden. When you arrive you have a wheelbarrow at your dedicated on site parking space that you can use for the duration of your stay to transport your belongings to and from the cabin 250m down a leafy lane. On the way you will pass the Wee Shop, where you can buy seasonally available homegrown fruit and veg and freshly baked bread/pastries, as well as a selection essential and local produce. Other things to note We have a number of up-cycled bicycles you are welcome to borrow, but do let us know in advance so we can have them ready for you. There is a wild jacuzzi in the nearby stream (heated only by the sun, filled only by the rain - the ultimate eco friendly wild dip) Little Menherion is in the middle of everywhere, Cornwall. A great place to hide away and switch off, or use as a base to explore this lovely county. For example, St Ives & the Eden project are both approx 45 minutes drive away in opposite directions. The nearest beaches are about 15 minutes drive & the towns of Truro & Falmouth and 25 minutes away. It is 1/2 mile of unmade track to the property, drive slowly. This is the start of your move over to the slow lane! Do note that if you have a car with sensors (most these days) they will go mad due to the nature of the living hedge either side of the lane. Especially in the height of summer - farmers are NOT permitted to cut hedges between 1st March - 31st August due to nesting birds. Rest assured it will be wide enough for your car, 10 tonne trucks get up here. It is - at its narrowest - just over 8ft/2.44m. We request that your dog is kept on the lead on the 4 acres immediately surrounding our wild spaces. This is so that guests in other cabins are not disturbed by them and our cat Pan can feel safe - it is his home after all. We provide a safe and expansive 6 acres of woodland walk that is great for exercising (off lead) for a well behaved dog with good recall - do note however there is lots of wildlife about!
