The Barn @ Broomhill Farm

We have a unique barn attached to our farmhouse in an area called Sowood between Halifax and Huddersfield with panoramic far reaching views. We are situated up a bridlepath with plenty of privacy and tranquility but still within easy reach of motorway networks with the M62 being a 5 minute drive away. With a huge amount of local attractions close by, our barn is perfectly placed for long country walks, bike rides, day trips out and is equipped with all you need for a great getaway. The space Our barn is split onto two levels with lounge, kitchen and bathroom downstairs and a large bedroom up a small flight of stairs with a window looking out to glorious Yorkshire countryside. With stone steps, uneven floors and some low beams, the property is not ideally suited for anyone with accessibility difficulties. Lounge We have two large comfy armchairs in front of an electric log effect fire - perfect for instant heat when you need it. The remote control for the fire can be tricky but there are two switches at the bottom on the right hand side to turn it on and at the top on the right is a dial that controls the temperature. Kitchen and dining The kitchen is equipped with all the basics you need for a short stay including a full oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with a small ice box and a Nespresso coffee maker. We have a drop leaf wall table and folding chairs to use if dining in. There is no washing machine or dryer but there is a launderette a few minutes away if needed. Bedroom The king size rustic chunky plank bed is set back under a low sloping ceiling giving a cabin like feel so just make sure you 'duck down' when getting in and out. We have 100% cotton bedding and towels from DUSK. The bed has a wool mattress topper and we provide a wool duvet from 'The Woolroom' creating the perfect sleep sanctuary with the natural hypoallergenic and temperature regulating benefits that you get from real wool. The wool they use is also traceable back to British farms! There is no TV in the bedroom. Bathroom We have a full bathroom with a shower over the bath. The shower screen is hinged to allow easier access to the bath. The bath is short to fit in the small space but still does the trick if you need a soak after a long day out. It is also slightly sunken so you step down into it. The radiator is connnected to the central heating but is electric also if you need to click it on. Please use the slip mat in the bath when using the shower. Wax candles Unfortunately we do not allow wax candles to be used but I do have some battery operated ones dotted around the barn (its a shame because I do love a candle but obviously this is for safety reasons) Guest access Guests have their own private entrance up 3 wide stone steps leading to double French doors. The doors open wide onto a small patio area with built in benches but it is big enough to set up the folding patio set that is provided - perfect for al fresco dining (with stunning views) Courtyard parking is available directly in front of the entrance but please don’t block access to the big barn doors - thank you. As we are a small working farm, we may need to access the barn and the trailer in the yard. Other things to note We cannot accommodate children or additional guests. 2 adults only.
