En-suite in a century-old house in the city center, with an office

Description

Sustainability and historical appreciation. Casa Pires de Sousa was built in 1895 and has been in the family for 4 generations. Made of rammed earth, it was recovered following the principles of recycling and upcycling, with its handmade furniture built by the owners, in a country and rustic environment. Rabbits, dogs, cats and turtles live together harmoniously in the yard. Located in the center, stroll through the surrounding streets, enjoying the hospitality of a small town. The space The stay is in the family's century-old home, which still resides on the premises. In colonial style, in addition to serving as a dwelling, it housed a store and, due to its strategic location, for many years it was used as a point of support for rural residents, serving for lunch and rest, especially during elections and other events. It is located in the center of Socorro, with its historic mansions, in front of Ground Zero and the Forum and Police Station Square, close to shopping streets, restaurants, bars and the Main Square, with all its eventual excitement (at some times of the year there are festive events nearby). We offer 2 suites, one smaller for a couple and more internal in the house (bedroom with a double bed and private bathroom) and another larger for a family, at the entrance of the residence (bedroom with a double bed and a single bed, anteroom with sofa bed and private bathroom). Being a century-old house and located in a large green space, it has its own particularities. For those who want a modern and clean environment, it is not our style. The house is airy and full of life, history (in its buildings, furniture and decorative objects), with characteristics of an old residence and its typical problems, in addition to the presence of some wild animals that stroll through the place, such as possums, porcupines, teiús, toads, frogs and various birds. Guest access The space includes, for the exclusive use of guests: the suites, dining room, equipped kitchen, side garden (with a table and 2 chairs) and open living room (where the TV is located, with streaming). In addition, they can also have access to other shared environments, such as the external balcony, the library with historical and classic books (with a workstation) and the backyard, with a pergola and a gourmet kitchen, with a wood-burning stove and oven. Want to have a coffee or liqueur from local producers while looking at the starry sky? Sit at the outdoor table and enjoy! Would you like to have the pleasure of picking a seasonal fruit directly from the tree, grown organically? Explore the backyard. Or would you rather read a good book? Choose from over 5,000 books in the library and stretch out in one of the rooms and balcony of the property. There are also bikes (3) available for those who want to exercise while getting to know the city. Other things to note We prioritize a simple and artisanal lifestyle. These principles guide our lives and permeate our lodging, an "island" in the center of the city, surrounded by nature and animals. We are inclusive and everyone is welcome. However, although we are passionate about animals, we do not allow tutors with their external pets on the property, as we have our animals loose, domestic and other wild animals, which can generate conflicts. We are close to several attractions in the city. Forget the car and, on foot or by bike, take the opportunity to visit the Mirante do Cristo Redentor, with its panoramic view of the city; stroll through the City Park, with its trails and spaces for various sports activities; taste regional products in the various emporiums; visit the first Reinforced Concrete Bridge in the state; visit the Museum and its exhibitions of local artists, the Cultural Center or the Movimento Cultural Center, with the Duas Rodas Museum; watch a movie in a typical centenary street cinema, the Cine Cavalieri Orlandi; thank life in the Parish of Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro, in an eclectic style, completed in 1924 and which gave rise to the name of the city; have a traditional and artisanal ice cream at Sorveteria Ademar or Sorvetreze. Or simply shop at the local clothing stores on Rua 13 de Maio, at the Feira de Malhas or at the Loja de Fábricas. Now, if you are a lover of outdoor walks and adventure activities, the city offers a wide variety of attractions for all audiences (sportsmen, adventurers or just curious), located in the rural area. Owners who love nature and the outdoors, Eduardo is a tourism expert and was a pioneer of adventure tourism in Socorro, operating trail, cave, and rappel tours (paid separately). Cassia is a pharmacist, working with herbal medicine and natural products, coordinator of the municipal project Community Medicinal Gardens, offering vegan and artisanal products for sale (soaps, shampoos and bar conditioners, repellents, aromatizers, perfumed waters), as well as products for relaxing experiences, such as foot soaks and essential oils for aromatherapy. Feel welcome, chat like our ancestors, with a good cup of coffee or a glass of liquor from local producers, and come and disconnect from the daily grind.
