East Quither Farm is our home, it is set in beautiful gardens with far reaching views towards Dartmoor. The house was built in the 1600s in a small hamlet. It oozes peace, tranquility & old world charm. It is surrounded by fabulous countryside close to the World Heritage town of Tavistock with easy access to Dartmoor National Park. Leisure activities include swimming, cinema, horse riding, sailing, kayaking, fishing, walking, cycling, historic country houses and surfing 40 minutes away The space Quither is a small hamlet set in rolling Devon countryside and has both a mining and farming history. It is 5 miles from the wonderful market town of Tavistock, 6 miles drive away from Cornwall and just 45 minutes drive from Plymouth city. East Quither Farm is an ancient Grade 2 listed building with recorded history dating back to the 17th Century. There is evidence that the house was once used as a retreat for monks from Tavistock Abbey. Indeed the then Bishop of Belfast was born here in the 1650s. We have large gardens with countryside views and many birds whose sweet songs fill the air. The area is a bird lovers paradise with opportunities to see woodland, garden, moorland and coastal birds. We offer discounts for stays of 4 days or longer. We are on hand to offer advice on all the great places to visit and we also offer Quite Day Retreats or Drawing and Painting tuition suitable for beginners or improvers. We have 1 King size room, 1 double room and 1 single room for guests - The King size room has sufficient space for an extra single trundle bed if required. so we can sleep up to 6 guests. We only take 1 booking at a time so that your group can enjoy more privacy. If you and your family are looking for a beautiful, tranquil rural retreat for a weekend, a week or longer then East Quither Farm may be the place to come! Due to inappropriate behavior of a small number of guests we no longer accept guests whose sole aim is to attend weddings in the area. Guest access Guests may use our large drawing room with TV to relax in and have access to our kitchen to make hot/cold drinks or for the simple warming up of meals. You will be able to store perishable food in the family fridge as necessary. The large family bathroom will be for your use only and there is also a shared shower room. There are 2 toilets available for guest to use upstairs. A Continental breakfast including hot croissants will be laid out each morning in the dining area with views over the garden. On warm days you may wish to take your meals on our garden terrace. Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden and all the walks around the house but please be aware we have a large pond so children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. During your stay We will almost certainly be around and available during your stay if you need tips and ideas of where to visit either in Devon or Cornwall Other things to note We are eco friendly with a car charging point and solar panels providing most of our electricity. There are so many outdoor activities in this area, too many to list but do please ask if you need information on outdoor pursuits, electric bike hire, sailing or horse riding. We can even offer some photography tuition using your mobile phone cameras or Drawing and Painting lessons.
