Scenic drives and walks can be enjoyed in the surrounding areas with the Beara and Sheep's Head peninsulas and Glengariff nature reserve are just a short drive away. Fully central heated and double glazed, you're assured of a cosy stay and a very warm Irish welcome. The space Built by our Grandfather 100 years ago we are delighted to share our home for others to enjoy and also the delights of the waterfront market town. We continue to use the cottage for regular holidays and family get togethers so you can be reassured of a much loved, well maintained and cared for home. Our personal belongings are kept in a separate storage room so won't be in the way during your stay! The Bay and 2 local beaches are within a short walk of the cottage at the Abbey, a popular place for both the local community of swimmers and visitors to enjoy in the still waters of Bantry. The stunning Inchydoney and Barleycove beaches are well worth a visit approx. 45 minutes drive away. Bantry is a fabulous place for food lovers with a wide choice of restaurants, very popular music and literary festivals in the summer, traditional pubs, a cinema and choice of supermarkets, where you can leave your car as all are within walking distance of the cottage. Families are welcome and a Travel Cot and Highchair are available at no charge, just let us know when you book if they are needed and we'll set them up for you. (Cot and Highchair are stored separately and not left out for non family bookings). Downstairs is a spacious living room with seating for 5 and where a piano can be enjoyed if you play! A separate kitchen with table and 4 chairs, a large upright fridge/freezer, plus if needed an additional separate freezer for those big shops, a microwave and modern oven means fully equipped for an enjoyable self catering stay. Next to the kitchen is a separate utility area with a large washer/dryer. The downstairs bathroom has a newly fitted electric shower over the bath (no separate shower cubicle), with one of 2 toilets in the property. Upstairs are 2 double bedrooms with luxury double beds (see our Guest Reviews!) The ensuite bedroom provides plenty of extra space for a cot if needed and a dual aspect with the bedroom offering a view over the garden and deck area. The ensuite is a WC and sink. In the bedrooms both feather and non feather pillows are available with spares if needed in the drawers under the bed. If you have a pillow preference, just let us know at time of booking and we'll be happy to make sure they're on the bed for you. 🛌 In between the 2 bedrooms off the landing is a door window that leads out onto the private deck area. The lawn is a grassed steep area the deck overlooks. Guest access We offer an In Person check in (no lock box) to all our guests, check in times are available between 2-5.30pm. If a late check in is preferred, our home may not be the right one for your stay😉 When you arrive we make sure you have everything you need and answer any questions on your first stay with us when we greet you. Sorry we can't accommodate any late check ins due to family commitments ❤️ If no guests are checking out on the day of your arrival and you'd like to arrive earlier than 2pm just let us know beforehand and we'd be happy to get the house ready for you 😀 We can confirm availability for early check-in the week of your arrival. There is easy access to all parts of the house inside. Grab rails in both the ensuite WC and downstairs Bathroom, plus grab rails next to the shower. The garden and deck is accessed via a first floor landing window sadly not easily accessible to those with limited mobility. The garden is VERY steep so not suitable for young children. Any children that do use the outside are to be supervised at all times when both in the garden and out on the deck. There are on road parking spaces directly opposite the cottage. Availability is subject to demand with other car owners in the road and it can get busy for space at certain times of the day. However you can also park directly outside the house near the entrance to the cottage which we can show you during check in. Other things to note To save you time on your journey to us, no need to pick the following up at the shops before you arrive as we supply these with our compliments at the cottage:- - your first pint of milk (if you've a preference for non dairy just let us know and we'll organise an alternative) tea, coffee, sugar, salt & pepper, washing up liquid, toilet rolls (starter pack), bin liners, hand soap, tinfoil, and detergent for the washing machine. For when it rains a couple of umbrellas have been left for you too! A housekeeping service is provided for stays of 2 weeks or more along with fresh linen and towels on a Thursday or Friday. If you've a preference for pillows, we have both feather and non-feather, just let us know which you love and we'll have these made up on the beds ready for you.
