Casa Terra Vedema is the main building of a traditional “Kapetanospito” (ship owner’s country house) dating back to 1886, where, together with its underground “canava” (wine cellar with grape stomping vats), was the country house of a wealthy financial family of Oia in the 19th century. It is located in the traditional settlement of Finikia on Santorini, within just 700m from the enchanting Oia. Guest access The whole house Other things to note During the 19th century, alongside the settlement of Oia, the rural settlement of Finikia developed. During this period, Finikia hosted the ship ownes holiday cottages and their “canaves” (cave houses or houses carved into the rock). On the other hand, the smaller cave dwellings of the settlement housed the rural population who worked in the plains and the vineyards of Baxedes, a nearby area. Today, Finikia is one of Santorini’s best-preserved traditional settlements. In being not too close and yet not too far from the cosmopolitan and touristy Oia, it retains the privilege of providing absolute serenity, relaxation, peace, and closeness with Santorinis nature, as it can only be reached on foot.
