"Great space and great views sums up this vacation rental." Aaron, March 2023 "Our family enjoyed every bit of the place. We will definitely be back." Kim, Dec 2022 "one of the few locations that have a paved road all the way to the home along with a very nice garage." Charles, Oct 22 "Quiet mornings and evenings looking over the foggy valley made this a great retreat for us." Thomas, May 2022 "The hosts have thought of everything. " Laurie, Feb 2022 "Do not hesitate! This was a perfect, easy to access- mountain home, with a million dollar view." Nina, Apr 2021 "The pictures don’t do justice, we will absolutely come back and stay here, very spacious and the downstairs area was great for my son and his friends" Elina, Mar 2021 "Amazing home, location is great, home was spotless, the home had everything our group of 8 needed for a weekend trip to the mountains." Cameron, Feb 2021 "Magnificent views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. "Million-dollar view" is putting it lightly. Home is beautifully decorated... We saw many a deer in the woods as we went upward. A mountain retreat but you have a Wal-Mart very close by for any last minute needs... Much to do all within a half hour ride... This home is as good or BETTER than advertised. Very comfortable, room to spread out if you have a family, good driveway to park on. A+ all around." Lawrence, Oct 2020 "We hiked Crabtree Falls, Boone Fork Trail, visited Grandfather Mountain and Mount Mitchell and biked The Virginia Creeper Trail. " Molly, Oct 2020 "A great weekend get away, breath taking views, a very clean and spacious home." Jim, Sept 2020 " We needed to conduct business for the first couple of days and the Wifi was able to accommodate all of our devices and multiple video meetings" Jamie, August 2020 "Pictures do not do this place justice... Great floor plan for people to gather or disperse as they desire...Typically don’t do the same place twice, but would likely if we go back to the area." Donna, June 2020 "The owners have obviously put in an incredible amount of thought and time and expense into making this one of the best Airbnb experiences we have ever had... This is what an Airbnb should be like!" Stephanie, Oct 2019 "This place is Spectacular! It is super convenient to so many beautiful day outings." Wendy, July 2019 "a treasure for a modest price" Alexis Mar 2019 This is only a small sample of what our guests say about our home. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ You can watch the sunset over the mountains or a rainbow that hovers over the mist in the valley. Enjoy the mountain laurel in the spring, the cool, refreshing summers, and the incredible fall colors. The home comfortably sleeps up to 10 adults with ample space for dining and games. Minutes away, you can enjoy downtown Spruce Pine, Little Switzerland, gem mining, horseback riding, craft studios, mountain music, unique restaurants, and hiking. Our home is a great location for exploring so much that Western NC has to offer. Grandfather Mountain, Asheville, Linville Gorge, Roan Mountain, Wolf Ridge Ski Resort, Tubing, White Water Rafting, Linville Caverns, Golf, Skiing, Zip Lining, hiking, and so much more is all within an hour's drive. Of course, if you'd rather take it easy, Continental Divide Retreat is fully equipped with all of the comforts of home. You can pack light, as we supply all of the linens, towels, and paper products for your stay. The kitchen is fully furnished with pots & pans and place settings for eight or more. This is a SMOKE FREE and PET FREE environment! Please don't smoke in our home or outside on the decks. Out of respect for future guests, we do not allow pets. If you can't bear the thought of unplugging, we have high-speed WiFi, and access to free content on Over the Air TV, Amazon Prime, PBS, and Netflix. The main floor is wheelchair accessible with a 4 inch step from the driveway to the porch and a 6 inch step up from the porch to the house. All doorways are wheelchair accessible. A part of master bedroom closet is reserved for the owners. There is a storage room in the basement that is locked. Otherwise, the house is to be enjoyed by all. The owners have many personal items and use their home occasionally throughout the year so please be respectful of our personal belongings. You will receive a code to the front door, so your arrival will not be disturbed. The local host is only a phone call away, living nearby. The owners are always available by phone or e-mail. Apple Mountain is a small residential subdivsion located on the Eastern Continental Divide. Our home is surrounded by wilderness which provides protection for many wild animals. There are occasional sightings of small bear, deer, turkeys, and we recently heard the howl of a cougar. The road up the mountain is mostly a single lane and paved. There is room for cars to pass each other. SPEED LIMIT IS 23 MPH! Plenty of parking space is available for up to 6 cars. Walmart is 1.5 miles away. A large relatively flat front yard is great for playing with the kids. Although it seems that you're a million miles away from civilization, there is a Super Walmart 1.4 miles away. Some would say that the road up the mountain is steep and narrow, but it is paved and maintained year-round. During winter weather events, you may find a 4 wheel drive vehicle or tire chains useful. It makes for an extraordinary entry to Continental Divide Retreat.
