Downeast Woodland Hideaway w/access to Tidal Bay

Now renting for the 2024 summer season from mid-June to mid-July! Cozy and comfortable rustic hideaway nestled in the woods provides a scenic home base for your Downeast adventures. Walk the nature trails on this 10 acre wooded waterfront property to discover the ponds, a field and views of the tidal bay with opportunities to see eagles, sea birds, sail boats and more. The space Summer calendar dates recently added for this renovated rustic retreat (part of original house) , perfect for one or two people looking to relax and/or explore Downeast Maine. Feels like camping- see the forest right outside the window-while enjoying the comforts of a queen sized bed, half bath and writing desk/area upstairs, and full bathroom, kitchenette, dining and living area downstairs. This is rural Maine, and while there is some Internet access on the main floor (Starlink is our ISP) interruptions are possible. Please ask if you have questions specific to the Internet connection. The cabin can be heated by the wood stove (as needed.) An outdoor dining space with charcoal grill is available for use. Would make a great Writers Retreat for someone looking for a quiet place to think and work. Enjoy viewing wildflowers with hummingbirds, vegetable and flower gardens, and wildlife such as deer, porcupine, and rabbit, frequent visitors in our field-there is always something new to notice and appreciate. It is a short walk to our small dock, where you can sit and enjoy the view of this beautiful tidal bay. In this part of Maine changes in the water level can be quite dramatic , from 9-14 feet, depending on the phase of the tide. Guest access While this is a private property down a long dirt road, the hideaway (in a separate building) is across from our log cabin home (owners live there) so you will have neighbors-there are two buildings on the property. You’ll have access to all the trails on our 10 acre wooded property and to the outdoor dining spaces created for guests in the hideaway. Areas that are not accessible: The neighboring log cabin home, outdoor pizza oven and shed areas. Other things to note: Maximum occupancy is 2 guests due to building and septic design. We request clear communication regarding your arrival and departure plans. Other things to note Schoodic Peninsula, part of Acadia National Park, is 30 minutes away and Bar Harbor is 1.5 hours away. There are many hikes and places to explore within 30 minutes of Milbridge for those interested in discovering the beauty of Downeast Maine.
