The space Tucked between a babbling creek and towering rock cliffs, Blue Mountain Hideaway feels like your own private slice of Shenandoah. Just a short but steep walk downhill from the main house and parking area, the secluded 16x16 bell tent awaits, fully outfitted with layered linens, warm lantern lighting, books, games, and thoughtful touches to help you slow down and settle in. Two hammocks sway beneath the trees, perfect for lazy afternoons or quiet evenings with a book. The outdoor kitchen is stocked for real camp cooking, with a propane stove, charcoal grill, and open-fire grate, plus all the utensils and cookware you’ll need. Just bring your cooler (there’s no refrigeration), and you’re set. Your off-grid bathroom features a vault privy and an outdoor shower powered by a Joolca HOTTAP water heater and filtration system, so you can wash up with warm, clean water, even in the woods. Inside the tent, you’ll find both a propane heater for chilly nights and air conditioning to stay cool through summer heat, comfort, no matter the season. And yes…. firewood is included. We’ve designed this space to feel peaceful, simple, and just a little magical, the kind of place we’d want to find ourselves. Guest access You’ll park in the large lot near our log cabin, then take a 100-yard walk down a steep, rocky 30-degree slope to reach the tent. The path may be difficult for guests with mobility concerns,UTV transport is available for an additional fee if needed. Once there, you’ll find a peaceful half-acre retreat with fire pits, a small stage for yoga or music, and a creek with mini waterfalls and a wading pool, all yours to enjoy in privacy. This listing is for a small, shared space in our home, with the added experience of a private campsite tucked away on the property. While we live on-site, the tent and surrounding area are entirely yours to enjoy, and we’re nearby if you need anything. Other things to note This is an off-grid stay, with the essentials covered. The tent has electricity and running water, but there’s no WiFi, and cell service is very limited. The walk to the tent is steep and rocky. We recommend sturdy shoes and packing light. We’re about 20 minutes from town, so it’s best to bring groceries with you. A small country store just two minutes away has basics like snacks, ice, beer, and wine. You’ll be surrounded by nature and may spot deer, bugs, or other wildlife around the property. The tent is kept clean, comfortable, and well cared for, so you can feel at home while surrounded by nature. We’ve tried to think of everything, so all you need to bring is your cooler and your clothes.
