Düsternbrook Guest Lodge (Farm) is family run and the oldest guest farm in Namibia (1961). The ranch is 14 000 ha and has abundant, typical savannah game: giraffe, oryx, kudu,….15 different species. Different accommodation (star) with DBB and activities: cheetah and leopard drive, game drive, scenic mountain drive and safari horse riding. On site a Pool and Restaurant: limited a la carte. Hiking trails: 1 hr to 5 hr. We are close to Windhoek, 50 km and Int. Airport, 90 km. Transfer offered. The space The old farm house is built in 1908 from natural stone and has been carefully renovated to keep the flair of by-gone times. There is the main farm house for breakfast and dinner and two typical African thatch roof lapas which serve also as restaurant depending on winter or summer. All the accommodation rooms are spread in the yard in different separate buildings or single houses and a walking distance to the main house and reception. Our reception is centrally situated and apart from check-in and check-out we offer here, our water adapted coffee brand, cappuccino and other drinks, as well sitting possibilities and Wi-Fi. All the activities start from here. Felsenhaus 1 and 2 are next to each other in a single building. It is our 3 star level accommodation with a spacious bedroom ( 20 sqm) and a dbl bed with 2 matrasses. It has en-suite bathroom: shower, toilet and washbasin, hot and cold water and a hair dryer. Furthermore: air condition, mini-bar, safe, coffee/tea station and a desk. The room 2 has a window view onto the dry river bed and surrounded mountains. Here you can often see game in the riverbed. The distance to the main house and pool is 50 m and to its own parking bay 20 m. A nearby Wi-Fi Antenna covers that area. Guest access Guests can access all public areas: breakfast room and dining room in the main house, dining room in the closed and open african thatch roof lapa ( lapa = place to eat), the reception area: for drinks, Wi-Fi and as arrival and departure spot also for the different activties, the swimming pool and walk around the house to enjoy the view into nature. They can move around the yard look at the stables or go for a lovely hike in the nature or book a seat on one of our activities. Other things to note I like to mention this venue is not really just a place to sleep as a stop over i.e. arrive late and leave early. From feed back of other guests they often said ïf we would have known we would have spent here more days as you can really relax and enjoy the nature and quietness very much. Our location vis-a-vis Windhoek and the international airport is just perfect for arrival to settle in or before departure as a nice place to close off your Namibia trip.
