Tuscan Retreat - Casa Santa Maria

Santa Maria is a Tuscan dream, tucked up on a hill in the midst of vineyards and olive trees. It's an authentic casale, located far from the crowds of cities, offering a secluded escape to relax and slow down. Closer to the tiny village of Scrofiano, in the heart of Valdichiana, S. Maria is immersed in total peace and tranquillity, with breathtaking views ranging from the Senese hills to the Appennines. Located halfway between Arezzo and Siena, it offers a perfect home-base to visit Tuscany. The space The house, extends over about 2,000 sq. ft and its original structure goes back to the 18th century. It’s a stone and brick casale built in typical Tuscan tradition with all the complement of features – exposed timber beams, terracotta floors, open fireplace - you would expect to find in this part of the world. Every part of the house feels open and inviting. From the large living space featuring the traditional open fireplace and comfortable seating, to the bright dining room and the charming kitchen, equipped with modern appliances as well as with everything you may need to experiment with Italian cooking. The kitchen opens on to an outdoor wood fired oven, perfect for your pizza night! There are 4 bright and airy bedrooms in the house: one with a king-size bed and three with twin beds. In one of the rooms the twin beds can be joined into a king-size bed. There are also three, comfortable bathrooms in Santa Maria, all stocked with toiletries. Depending on the season, you could pick figs, apricots, cherries, plums, peaches and fresh herbs around Santa Maria’s secluded and extensive gardens. Enjoy secluded walks in the woodlands, explore the local area or just unwind and soak up the tranquillity Santa Maria’s beautiful rural setting, with its spectacular panoramic views. Other things to note In addition to the house, guests have access to the surrounding land. Other things to note: The property has outdoor parking. There is no air conditioning in the apartment and heating is charged separately. There is the possibility of placing an extra single bed on request. Though walking distance to Scrofiano, which is equipped with a small deli, there are no public transports connecting Santa Maria to the nearby towns. We therefore highly recommend travelling by car.
