Once Upon a Tide cottage

Once Upon a Tide cottage is nestled among the hills of Alma, New Brunswick - one of the most famous fishing villages in the Maritimes. Newly renovated, and outfitted with 3 bedrooms - our cottage is the perfect coastal retreat for families, couples, or a group of friends. Cozy, comfortable, and designed to be your home-away-from-home while exploring the Fundy region, Once Upon a Tide cottage is the perfect spot to make memories, and relax oceanside in maritime style. The space Once Upon a Tide cottage is a thoughtfully-designed, three-bedroom space, equipped with all the comforts of home and a coastal personality. After a day spent exploring the Fundy region, come home to a cozy queen-sized bed in the primary bedroom (the captains’ quarters, as we like to call it), with a headboard lovingly hand-crafted from local driftwood that has been weathered and worn by the tidal currents of the Bay of Fundy. Since this historic little property used to be a family cottage, there aren’t any closets. Instead, we’ve found a beautiful mid-century credenza for storing your clothing and valuables. Nothing but the best for the skipper (AKA Captain)! The second bedroom, (or first mate’s room), also includes a driftwood double bed, and a beautiful mid-century dresser for unpacking, relaxing, and staying a while. This room has lots of natural light and extra blankets for snuggling up on chilly seaside nights. The deck hands’ room is the cottage's third bedroom, which features two large windows facing the front yard. This room is our smallest but brightest room in the cottage. Outfitted with a single bed - it's perfect for kids, or the traveler in your crew who tends to snore. As Maritimers, we know the best hangouts tend to happen in the kitchen. The cottage's fully equipped kitchen has been recently renovated with brand new cupboards, countertops, and sink - so you can socialize, cook, and break bread in style. The best way to start a full day of adventure and exploration is with a tasty beverage, and the cottage features a fully-stocked coffee station with a hot and cold milk frother so you can make the beverage of your choice, exactly how you like it. The bathroom has a new washer and dryer set for your convenience - exploring the ocean floor at low tide can be a muddy but worthwhile adventure! Because we are situated on the Bay, Alma evenings cool off quickly so you’ll sleep comfortably even on the hottest summer days. However, if you sleep hot, there are two fans to keep you cool. We encourage you to keep the blinds partially closed during the day to help keep the cottage cool to your liking. Guest access When you arrive at the cottage, use the keyless private code (which we will provide before your arrival) to enter our space! Once Upon a Tide cottage is a private space for you to utilize and enjoy for the duration of your stay. Though we have a spacious front yard, we have neighbours nearby - so please be respectful with noise levels. Other things to note Once Upon a Tide Cottage has a large front yard including a fire pit with seating for 4. There is also a large front patio with unique rocker seating made from old metal lobster traps from a local fisherman! Feel free to bring your own BBQ to enjoy on the property. In the old lobster bait crate (repurposed as the cottage coffee table), you’ll find lots of board games for rainy day fun. You'll find a set of binoculars for spotting sandpipers on the beach in the summer. The cottage also has some Maritime-themed reading material for the folks who didn't pack their own!
