The lakefront home is situated on the west side of Cayuga Lake in Ithaca, NY. Close by to Downtown Ithaca, Cornell, and local attractions. The space Welcome! This pet-friendly three bedroom and two full bath lakefront home is beautifully situated on the west side of Cayuga Lake in Ithaca, New York – the heart of the Finger Lakes region. Private, yet close by to all the area has to offer: Just 10 minutes from Downtown Ithaca, the Ithaca Farmers Market, Cayuga Waterfront Trail, restaurants, shops, and museums. Cornell and Ithaca College are a quick 10-12 minute drive as well. Stunning Taughannock Falls State Park is just six miles north on Taughannock Boulevard. Hike, swim, and view the 215 foot tall namesake waterfall. In addition, Buttermilk Falls State Park, Robert H. Treman State Park, and Allen H. Treman State Marina are all very close by. The 7+ mile Black Diamond Recreation Trail runs from two miles south of the house all the way along Taughannock Boulevard up to Taughannock Falls State Park. Enjoy a walk, run, or bike ride on this graded, crushed stone recreational pathway (dogs welcome). To access the trail, drive 1 mile north on Taughannock Boulevard and turn left on Glenwood Heights Road. There is free parking for the trail 100 yards ahead. The Finger Lakes is home to over 130 wineries as well as a growing number of breweries, and distilleries. The lake house is a great jumping off point to explore as it sits right along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail and is less than 3 miles to the closest winery. As you wander the wine trails, take time to enjoy beautiful views, local cheeses, Amish markets, and more. (Please drink responsibly.) While the local area has much to see and do, make sure to take time to relax and enjoy the lake house. You and your guests will have the entire home to yourselves. With three bedrooms and other sleeping areas, the house can easily accommodate 8 people overnight. Enjoy the home's lakefront location and watch the sunrise over the Cayuga Lake while you enjoy your morning coffee on one of two large decks overlooking the private boat dock and 100 feet of shoreline. After your coffee, wander down the steps to the lakefront and enjoy the chairs on the dock. Go for a swim, take out the kayaks and or canoes, or simply admire the beautiful view. Enjoy your day by the water or exploring the local area. After a swim in the lake, your furry friend can run and play at the Ithaca Dog Park located less than two miles south of the house near the marina. At dinner time try one of the many local Ithaca restaurants, or cook up a meal in the well appointed kitchen or on the gas grill located on the main level deck. There are multiple options to dine inside or out. The house is two levels with the king master bedroom, full bathroom, kitchen, living room and dining area on the main floor. Downstairs you will find two more queen bedrooms, a second full bathroom, second living room/dining area, and a kitchenette. There is additional sleeping space on the futon in the master bedroom, and in the two living rooms on pull out couches. The two levels of the home are a perfect set up for visiting with extended family or friends, allowing you to be close together but with individual privacy as well. The house has the amenities you need to enjoy your visit including city water, high speed wifi, AC, an equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, gas grill, TVs in both living rooms, games, and much more. For the nature enthusiast, watch local wildlife from the deck and dock. Binoculars and a spotting scope are available to use while visiting. Some of the wild friends that have visited the property include mink, red fox, chipmunks, deer, squirrel, and MANY different species of birds. The main level deck provides you a great view of the tree tops to watch the birds who visit the property. Watch and listen for Bald Eagles, Baltimore Orioles, Osprey, American Goldfinches, American Redstarts, Red-eyed and Warbling Vireos, Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds, Phoebes, Tree and Barn Swallows, Great Horned and Barred Owls, and many species of warblers. Dockside you may get close up views of Great Blue Heron, Hooded and Common Mergansers, Mallard, Black, Red Head, Ring-Neck, and Canvas Back ducks, Canada Geese, Snow Geese and so many other aquatic birds. If you are a birding enthusiast, don't miss a trip to the world renowned Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Sapsucker Woods. Don't forget the fisherman in your group. Cayuga lake and the local rivers are known for their fishing. Cayuga Lake has salmon, rainbow, lake and brown trout, large and smallmouth bass, northern pike, and more. Fish directly from the dock, from one of the kayaks or canoe, or at one of the local rivers. (A New York State Fishing License is required to fish legally.) The paved driveway brings you down from the road to the house. There is private parking for up to three cars. The main entrance to the house has one step up onto the outside landing and a step up through the doorway. Once inside, there are 6-7 steps up to the main level or down to the lower level. There are bedrooms and bathrooms on both levels. The house overlooks Cayuga lake and there are about 50 steps down to the lakefront from the house (but there is a beautiful view of the lake from the two decks!)
