Quintessential Cotswolds Cottage near Stow-on-Wold
Description
Located a 5 min drive away from Stow-on-the-Wold in the quaint village of Upper Oddington, my cozy English cottage known as Yellow Rose Cottage is the ideal location for your escape to the Cotswolds. With my local pub, The Fox at Oddington, just a 15 min walk away & Daylesford Farm just down the road, you'll be spoilt for choice with award winning pubs & restaurants. The village of Bourton-on-the-Water is a 15 mins drive, while Bibury is a 30 min drive. Note: YOU WILL NEED A CAR to stay here The space Yellow Rose Cottage is located at the top of a terraced row of traditional stone cottages that date back to the 1850's. My cozy 1 bedroom cottage with ensuite bathroom (and shower) has many character features, with wonky bedroom floors, solid oak beams and a wood burning fireplace. The cottage has been updated with modern amenities. The cozy living area has beautiful oak beams and stone fireplace with a wood burning stove. There is a two seater sofa, comfy armchair, wooden dining table, and a TV with Roku, Netflix & DVD player. There is BT Wifi in the cottage. The kitchen area contains an electric Aga cooker, microwave, fridge with ice box, small dishwasher, kettle and toaster. The hutch contains all the cookware you will need to make delicious meals should you wish to cook or bake. Solid stairs & oak banister lead up from the ground floor directly into the bedroom. Please note: these stairs are winding and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues and small infants and children. At the top of the stairs you will find a beautiful bedroom with original oak beams and a king-sized bed. There is an ensuite bathroom with enclosed shower, wash basin and toilet. A sunny bistro set is available on the terraced steps outside of the cottage for early morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. Cozy blankets are provided for those chilly nights. Please note: my 175 year old stone cottage is cool in the summer, especially on the ground floor. Please bring a jumper/sweater and some slippers if you are especially adverse to the cold! Located 25 metres from the property is a private car park, with a dedicated parking space for my cottage. Please note, there is space for one vehicle only. ***Please note that my cottage is not suitable for infants or children, as there is an open & winding staircase and a working log burner that does not have a shield. ***Please also note that the cottage is only accessible via the road from the car park, as there is no shared access from the car park (the right of way was terminated when my neighbors purchased their cottage). There are stairs that lead down to my cottage. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed as the host has allergies. As this is a 175 year old stone house, the ground floor tends to be cold in both winter & the summer. In the winter, plastic film is applied to the windows to keep out the cold & draughts, and thus the windows are unable to be opened. Radiators are used to warm the cottage October-April. In the summer, fresh warm air can be let into the cottage via the front door and windows, and there are fans you can use to distribute the fresh air around the cottage. Please feel free to message me with any questions you may have prior to booking. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire cottage, however the wardrobe is off-limits (I live at the cottage throughout the year & store my clothing in the wardrobe). There will be a couple of drawers cleared out for your arrival in the dresser, as well as some hangers provided that you can hang on the bolts from the wooden beams in the bedroom. Other things to note No smoking or vaping in the cottage; please use terrace outside There is a key safe for easy guest access; code will be given upon booking Bed linen and towels are provided for your stay A starter supply of wood & kindling is provided for the wood burning stove (October - April) Please NO red wine or hot beverages in the bedroom
