The Nest is a beautifully interior designed self-contained cottage with a private garden and wonderful uninterrupted views to the woodland beyond. Ideally situated off a quiet country lane in the Sussex village of Danehill, a High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and on the edge of the 6,500-acre Ashdown Forest, synonymous with Winnie the Pooh. The award-winning Coach & Horses gastro pub is a 2-3 mins walk. Four Poster and sofa-bed. Find luxury and comfort with a connection to nature. The Nest has achieved the coveted VisitEngland 4* Gold Award for excellence. You will be assured of a welcoming and homely idyllic woodland retreat whether you are on a short break, business trip, romantic getaway or small family holiday. Unwind in a peaceful, bright and calm open-plan setting with the benefit of a sumptuous four poster king size bed and new deep pocket sprung and memory foam combination mattress and a comfy double sofa bed. Enjoy high quality Egyptian cotton crisp white bed linen, goose down duvets and hypoallergenic pillows along with soft blankets. The marble tiled bathroom has a double ended bath, overhead rainwater shower, waterfall taps, handheld shower and a towel rail. Christy towels, waffle dressing gowns, shower gel, shampoo/hand soap provided and hairdryer. The dining/work space with extendable wooden table and chairs easily seats 4-6 guests and there is a lovely, cosy sitting room area with comfy pull-out double sofa bed providing a 12 cm deep foam mattress. The sofa bed is suitable for 2 guests. A cot is also available if requested at booking. French windows maximise the expansive woodland views with velvet curtains and black-out blinds to ensure a good night’s sleep. Overhead LED lighting is on dimmer switches to help set the mood. There is free full-fibre WiFi and a Smart 32”TV with over 150 Freesat channels, Netflix/Amazon Prime streaming option, DVD player, Bluetooth speaker, and a digital radio. A selection of board games, magazines, local area maps, children’s books, and a few cuddly toys are also available. You will find good eaves storage space with lighting for luggage, suitcase stands, a clothes hanging rail, shoe rack and shelving. Iron and ironing board provided. Downstairs is a separate well-equipped kitchen including a cooker with double oven, grill and ceramic hob, extractor fan, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, cafetière, toaster, double sink, integrated fridge, freezer and a washer/dryer. There is a breakfast bar with seating for two next to the French windows overlooking the garden and woods. The characterful weather-boarded Nest, with Winnie the Pooh weather-vane, is approached from the drive via an external wooden staircase to the leafy first-floor entrance where you will find a useful rack for those muddy walking boots/wellies. The Nest is nestled under the canopy of an old pear tree and Scots pine with your own small private garden below furnished with dining table and chairs, a tranquil spot where you can relax and listen to the birds. There is space for bikes to be stored under the external stairs. Parking is available on the drive. Do help yourselves to the pears! You will have unlimited access to The Nest and its private garden, entered through the gate to the right of the external staircase. The Nest is a separate building at the top of the owner’s drive so very private and quiet. The Nest is accessed via an external staircase to the leafy first floor entrance and is not suitable for wheelchair access. Your privacy will be respected and the owner's privacy should also be respected so their garden and house are not accessible, thank you. We are available to offer help if required The Nest in Danehill, East Sussex is ideally located to explore the Ashdown Forest, the South Downs and the vibrant, historic towns of Lewes, East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells. The south Coast is within an hours drive, Brighton Marina 40 mins and Glyndbourne Opera House 30 mins. There are wonderful walks on the doorstep to take in the stunning countryside and many local attractions such as The Bluebell Steam Railway, Bluebell Vineyard Estates, Sheffield Park and Garden National Trust and Trading Boundaries Cafe and Concert venue. Also nearby is Borde Hill Gardens with open air concerts, Wakehurst Place Botanical Gardens and Ardingly Country Fair Showground. The charming villages of Lindfield, Hartfield, Horsted Keynes, Fletching and Forest Row are within a short drive and offer a variety of artisan shops, cafes and pubs. Nearby sporting and recreational activities include golf at Lindfield and Haywards Heath, sailing and water sports at Ardingly Reservoir Activity Centre and racing at Plumpton and Brighton. There is clay pigeon shooting at Northall Club in Fletching, fishing at Latchetts Lakes and riding at East View Farm Riding Centre both in Danehill. Take the A275 or A22 to Danehill village. There is easy access to A275, A22, A23 and A272 and good motorway access to M23 and M25. Gatwick Airport is circa 30 mins by car. Haywards Heath is the nearest railway station 20 mins by car. There are local transport links with 270 Metro bus to East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Brighton. There are regular trains to/from London Victoria and London Bridge from Haywards Heath station arriving within 50 mins. Sorry no pets or parties and non-smokers only please. Well trained assistance dogs welcome. There is free full-fibre Wi-Fi at The Nest. Free secure on site parking for 1 car, if 2 spaces required please request at time of booking. Please advise estimated time of arrival at booking to ensure we are here to greet you. Remote check-in can also be arranged. Bookings are for short and longer term holiday lets. There is an additional charge for using the washer/dryer of £5 per use. Sorry no wheelchair access.
