The Raven on Nelson rd. in the Mt Baker foothills
The Raven is a beautiful 1100 ft. sq. custom apt. above our garage and is our second vacation rental on our property (check out The Nest on Nelson!). There are two bedrooms, each with a comfortable queen bed. There is one bathroom with a 6 ft. tub and shower with a slate surround. The kitchen is fully equipped including a dishwasher. There is plenty of parking and two stairways to The Raven. The main entrance is on the east side of the building while the west side has stairs from the deck. The deck is very private and has a great forest view. The Raven is a very tasteful and comfortable apt. with bamboo floors and birch trim milled from trees right here on our property. There is a TV with a DVD player. The heat is quiet, cozy and hypoallergenic radiant floor heat. There are lovely southern views of our valley from the living room and kitchen windows.
The Raven is NOT a party vacation rental. The only people allowed, unless by special approval, are those who booked the Raven. We do not allow smoking anywhere on the property and do not allow pets. Money from the damage deposit can also be used if a guest does not clean the Raven to a satisfactory condition (the expectation is clearly defined in the welcome note guests receive when arriving)
The Raven is located on a 45 acre paradise located on a quiet country road about halfway from the bustling small city of Bellingham and the world renowned Mt. Baker Ski Area and North Cascades National Park. Hiking abounds in the summer and fall with epic skiing in the winter months. Starting in later November and going thru January is the returning of the salmon and with it lots of bald eagles. It's only a five minute drive to spectacular viewing from The Raven. Also in winter you can hear great horned owls hooting while they start their mating season. Spring and summer bring many a bird and a literal cacophony of frogs in our wetlands. If you feel like a walk in the woods we have a trail thru our truly majestic forest with mature cedar, Douglas fir, hemlock, big leaf maple, birch, and red alder. Summertime is beyond description here in the Southfork valley with sun and the river to swim in (and we know some good private spots)! Because we live on a quiet road with little traffic a stroll down Nelson rd. is a relaxing way to start or end your day and you might even meet some of our neighbors who regular;y walk, run or bike. Across the valley is a seasonal waterfall the is quite spectacular. Come join us for a country respite!
