The Stella ~ Bellport Beach Getaway
Welcome to The Stella, a thoughtful 1920's home set in the heart of Bellport Village. This is the place for a summer romance, a family gathering, or a creative recentering. Inspired by the subtle palette and refined geometry of the American artist Frank Stella—who often spent time on Long Island—The Stella enjoys close proximity to many beaches and wetlands. For summer monthly bookings, August 2024 is still available. My original 1920's, 1200 square foot home is full of interesting, mainly local, mid-century finds. I worked with a talented Bellport designer, Maya Schindler, to find a mix of old and new pieces that would appeal to curious journeyers and weekenders. We share a love of art, and you'll find different elements of color, shape and form that we dreamed up, throughout. In the summer, the garden (and thriving veggie patch) is alive with green. So many beautiful beaches are close by, from Fire Island's Ho Hum Beach, to Mother’s beach, Shirley Beach, and the gorgeous Smith Point beach. For foodies, The Stella is steps away from well-known local pubs and restaurants (Porters and The Bellport shine here). Further afield, it's a 15 minute drive to the culinary best of Long Island: Varney’s, Cowfish, Rumba, Little Gull, Main Biscuit, Catch in Patchogue, and Lunch and Saint Ambroeus in Southhampton. You'll have the whole space to yourself: 3 bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace, a kitchen and dining area, as well as an outdoor patio, veggie patch and garden. We're available when needed: either on the ground or via the Airbnb message thread. Bellport is an easy 1.5 hours drive from Manhattan. The Stella is close to the train station and town — just a few minutes walk from Bellport shops and restaurants — and different beaches, including the well-known Ho Hum Beach, Mother's Beach, Shirley Beach, Smith Point Beach, and stunning Bellport Wetlands. Nestled on the coast of Suffolk County, the tiny village of Bellport boasts a population of around 2,000. The village is named after its early settlers, the Bell family, and is home to a gorgeous array of antique shops, artist galleries, and small inns, as well as local produce and foodie destinations. Bellport, as it now stands, was originally a part of neighboring Brookhaven. The name “Bell-Port” came about as Bellport was very close to the Old Inlet (a breach in the barrier island of Fire Island), which gave Bellport easy access to the open ocean. Now, the beautiful Ho Hum Beach is reachable via ferry, and the village has gentrified whilst retaining its historic character. You’ll be hosted by Rose, an art historian and long-time resident of New York City and Bellport.
