Description

Our tiny Bolthole looks out onto the moor+mountains, it is like a hide, from your bed you can watch the sheep+wild ponies as they wander by+see the red kites soar overhead+hear the song of the skylark. It has a single bed in a very small space with a hob, kettle, toaster+sink, with pots+pans+crockery etc. This is a low cost stay, for single people, although we are in the wilds, other people are close by also taking a break here. There is a firepit on the moor+a shower+loo in the campers field. The space The space is like a tiny backpackers abode, an ideal tiny space to stay in for hikers and cyclists or any lone traveller, who wants a cheap break! It really doesn't get smaller than this! The view is stunning! It really is just somewhere to lay your head, if you want to be out and about in the day. You have a gate to the moor right beside your place, and can light a fire in the firepit, and watch the sunset behind the hills. PLEASE NOTE: The Bolthole is on a £1 Electricity coin meter set at cost price, so you will need a few £1 coins. There is a kettle, toaster + 2 ring electric hob, + a sink with cold running water. There is also a small sized fridge, and a convector heater, for those chilly evenings. The bed does convert into a day seat, which takes up half the space of the bed, and gives you a little more room in the day if you wish. The sleeping + cooking space are in one. Also there is no internet in the bolthole, there is a place in the gardens where you can pick up the wifi with a table and seating. Also if you have EE mobile the signal is very good. The Loo + shower are shared with others in the camping field, we suggest £1 for a shower. We do ask people to bring indoor and outdoor footwear please, as when it rains it can get muddy. The shower room is a shoes off area. If you feel the Bolthole is just that bit too small, we have other larger places from a Yurt with woodstove to a small self contained studio with woodstove and all that you need, available also via airbnb please just ask Anna for the links. Dogs, 1 small well behaved dog is allowed in the Bolthole, with the usual pet rules. Please do make sure you add your pet in the drop down menu, when you book. And also please mention in your booking that you are bringing a dog. The fee for a dog is £25. Thank you. Guest access You have access to the loo and shower in the campers field. You have direct access to the moor + firepit. Please do not walk in front of the Cowshed building. Thanks you Other things to note Please note that you need to walk past the Moorshed and out of the gate to the moor, turn right and after 10 meters or so you will see another gate back into the gardens on you right which will take you to the Bolthole. The Loo+ shower are in the Campers field which is on your right as you drive up the track. Please park in the layby along the track or just inside the field closeby. You will need a few £1 coins for the Bolthole + also for a shower. We do ask everyone to remove outdoor footwear both in the Bolthole and also in the loo/shower area of the shower room. People who stay here do on the whole come for a peaceful break, so we do ask all guests to be considerate of others and if having a fire to quieten by 10.30 please. You are quite close to the firepit which is a shared space so you may hear people around the fire. If you want quiet, then the Yurt and Room with aview are the quietest of all the places here. There is no key for the bolthole, it is a very safe place to stay. If you are planning on staying out of season please note this a very basic set up and it is a good idea to bring extra bedding and plenty of warm clothes, the view is beautiful through all the seasons changes, but it is an easier place to stay in Summer. Out of season guests need to be a little hardier to stay in cooler temperatures! There is an electric heater as well as the cooking facilities. For those who would prefer something with a few more creature comforts, Trallwyn Bach studio is also ideal for 1 person - it has cooking facilities and loo and shower within it. It also has a great view to the moor and a woodstove. The title is 'studio with woodstove by ancient stonecircle' on airbnb A note on insects, we are in the countryside and it is likely you will see a spider or a bee or a moth or two etc especially if you have your window open and the light on, if this is likely to be a problem for you perhaps, this is not an ideal place to stay. We have recently had a complaint re bugs, these are not bed bugs, but a reference to insects. The cleaners do a basic clean and you will have fresh linen on your bed and fresh T towels, and some flowers from the garden. But staying here is still staying in a small + Basic Bolthole space on the edge of a moor! Which fortunately a lot of people love! PLEASE TAKE NOTE IF STAYING OUT OF SEASON - It is possible to stay out of season - if you do choose to stay between November and March. It is possible that the shower room is not available, as the water gets turned off if we have a cold spell. People staying need to be a little hardy! In that there is a compost toilet a few minutes walk away, and when the shower is turned off, you have to be ok with having a strip wash in the Bolthole. It is also a good idea to bring extra bedding. There is a duvet and an electric blanket, and a convector heater and the Bolthole warms up very quickly as it is so small. (if you would like more creature comforts it is better to Book the studio which has a loo and shower and proper kitchen! Ask Anna for more info) Finally please note, there is no public transport to this village. Many people are tempted by the situation of the Bolthole, as well as the cheapness of the price, to find that it involves either - a taxi from our closest station Clunderwen 8 miles a way - or if you line up the one bus a day to the closest train, you can get closer and walk the 2 1/2 miles to us. Many people do this journey and many people also come by car. Dogs rules: Please keep your dog on a lead at all times in our gardens and scoop all poop. Also please bring a small bed or basket for your dog to sleep in. Dogs are not allowed on the bed. Please don't leave your dog home alone. You are welcome to let your dog off the lead, on the moor so long as it doesn't chase the sheep or ponies. Normally only one dog is allowed, but if they are two small dogs, ask Anna and so long as you are happy to pay another pet fee, that may be ok.
