Looking for a peaceful escape? Our cozy bungalow on Espiritu Santo Island, Vanuatu, is the perfect retreat. Nestled by a tranquil lagoon and two beautiful Blueholes, you’ll be surrounded by nature’s serenity. Fall asleep to the calming ocean breeze and wake up to birdsong and a stunning sunrise right from your deck. It’s the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature. The space Matevulu Lodge is a small, family-run Bed & Breakfast, perfect for travelers looking for a peaceful and authentic island escape. Please note that we are not a hotel or a resort, but rather offer a simple and independent stay with all the comfort you need for a relaxing experience. This charming Double Bungalow with a traditional style offers modern facilities and comfort. It features 1 double bed, en-suite bathroom with ocean views, and a deck with chairs overlooking the beach lined with ancient Tamanu trees, which is just a few steps down. The room is beautifully designed using local materials such as Bamboo for the walls, and traditional decoration we brought from our trips in Vanuatu. It is equipped with shelves, hammocks, ceiling fan, a mini fridge and a kettle and cups for more comfort. A complimentary continental breakfast is prepared each morning in our shared Fare kitchen, and guests have access to free Wi-Fi, as well as kayaks, SUP boards, and snorkel gear for exploring the bay and nearby blue holes. We highly recommend a visit to Riri Blue Hole, just a 30-minute kayak ride from the lodge! For lunch and dinner, all guests will be sharing our Fare kitchen which is fully equipped with a fridge, gas stove, oven, cooking utensils, storage facilities, a dining area overlooking the beach, so you can prepare your own meals. It also features an open fire & bbq place, hanging hammock and swings over the colorful lagoon. We recommend bringing your own food supplies from town (20 minutes away), as the closest shops and banks are located there. For dining alternatives, two local restaurants are just a 5-minute drive from the lodge, and a catering service is available with advance booking (48 hours’ notice; closed on weekends; menu available upon request). Please note that as a small operation, we do not offer full-time reception, a restaurant, or a bar onsite. However, our team is always happy to assist and accommodate whenever possible. Explore our flower garden, stone statues and black palm sculptures, grab a fresh coconut from our coconut trees, relax on the deck, soak up the view and connect with the luxuriant nature. During your stay We live on the property and are always happy to help with anything you need. Feel free to reach out with any questions or for recommendations—whether it's tips on local activities or ideas for planning your stay. Other things to note Please note that we don’t offer room service, but if you're staying with us for more than four days, we're more than happy to change your bed sheets upon request. For laundry services, there is a small charge of 2000 vatus. You’ll also meet our friendly cat, who loves to roam the property. While generally sweet, he can be a bit temperamental at times, so we recommend giving him space if he’s not in the mood for attention. Additionally, the bungalows have open decks (without fencing) to offer better views of the surrounding landscape, so we kindly ask parents to keep an eye on young children for their safety.
