Cute cottage near UConn, lake, and restaurants.

The space From the front porch, step into the new granite kitchen with farm sink, full-sized appliances, dining for four, swivel-mounted flat panel TV, and living area with a convertible futon sofa. Also downstairs are a full bath and a generous storage space behind stylish barn doors. Upstairs discover an airy bedroom with a queen platform bed and a dedicated place to work. Guest access Guest house has a separate address, separate driveway, and as much parking as you need. Please refer to arrival instructions and park at the top of the gravel drive when you arrive. Other things to note Setting: The cottage is located in the back corner of a private manicured yard bordering a Christmas tree farm. We reserve the back portion of the yard (approx 0.1 acre) for your use while you are our guests. Guests and hosts will be in plain view of one another whenever both are using the yard at the same time. We are happy to let our dogs roam free or to keep them on leash during your stay — please let us know what you would prefer. Accessibility: Guests park on a gravel drive and must traverse ~100’ of unpaved grassy surface to reach the cottage entrance. The yard may be muddy after rain or covered in snow in winter. (We are in New England and very heavy snow is possible!) In the event of heavy snow, we will clear your driveway and a path to the cottage. Nature: We live out in the country. You can expect to hear many kinds of birds, including barn and shriek owls at night. Foxes and fishers (“fisher cats”) live and hunt in the neighborhood. In summer, many kinds of insects float through the air (e.g. pollinators, mosquitos, flys, moths, gnats, etc.). On dark summer nights, bright lights shining at the cottage will attract flying insects from the surrounding darkness. If given a chance, some bugs such as lake midges (teeny, flying, non-biting) will rush indoors in surprising numbers. You can avoid unwelcome guests by limiting the use of bright lights at night, but inevitably some bugs will get into the cottage in summer. When this happens please contact your hosts to clear them away and double-check your screens. If you are not used to traversing muddy garden paths, hearing strange noises at night, or contending with insects, our cute cottage in the country may not be ideal for you!
