Orchid House Cottage at Stoney Point

Orchid House, at Stoney Point, a 1.5 acre nature retreat! Outdoor living and elegant glamping at its best in a tiny 1 Bedroom, solar powered, hardwood cottage on beautiful East End. Breathtaking views of Privateer Bay Beach and the entire BVI are steps away. Sleeping is the only activity located inside the screened cottage. The kitchenette, dining, sitting area and bath are on covered porches. Orchid House is surrounded by native trees, orchids and tropical vegetation for complete privacy. The space Orchid House is powered by sunshine from a solar carport (we never have to worry about the grid going down with battery backup!) and built of sustainably harvested, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, regionally sourced tropical hardwoods. Stoney Point, is a 1.5-acre gated nature retreat, with 55 native tree and plant species including endemic, highly threatened species that are only found on East End. It is a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat with 1/3 of the property, (½ acre), set aside in deeded conservation easements. There is one other rental cottage located at the opposite end of the property and out of sight of Orchid House. Both are accessed by pea gravel pathways on a moderate slope down from the communal parking area. Guest access Stoney Point is part of the Privateer Bay Association which has 8 acres of community property on two secluded, privately accessed, sandy and stony beaches, good snorkeling, and a salt pond for bird watching. All are only minutes away by foot or car. There are also miles of paved, undeveloped subdivision roads with spectacular views of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and no traffic for walking or jogging right outside your door. The Association contains 75 acres and 12 homes, 2 of which are visible from Stoney Point. The white sand Hansen Bay Beach is only 5 minutes away. The awesomely beautiful, quite and ultra-safe East End is the last vestige of the “old”, (real) Caribbean on St. John! Coral Bay restaurants, shops and nightlife are 15 minutes away on a beautiful drive through the National Park and past Hurricane Hole.
